Morning guys,
was travelling so just installed demo: am finding it subtle but also apparent
running on the 2 buss, drum and bass tracks: seems to bring sound into tighter focus and add definition and a smoothness ?
Am running in first slot
other impressions ?

Thought about that one too, special at 35 bucks, but I found that Slate VTM is doing very similar things. To my ears, AB ing with my favourite records, Slate is very close to the real deal. Its just sad that I lost all my songs which I did when I still had my Telefunken M 15 A. To my ears the VTM does similar things if I find the right spot at the input stage. Special at 30 iPS it shapes off transients... I like that, its something I can remember from the M 15 A.

I wasn't impressed with the slate VTM either
I also go between softube Tape and UAD tapes
the only one I'm missing is the Studer

The tape thingy in Ozone 8 is really good too. Did you like Taupe? I only played with it a little bit. I mean maybe others hear things I don’t, but I thought I could get the same sounds out of the UAD ATR 102 a lot quicker and a lot easier. That being said, I didn’t really go through each preset.

It's a thing. A subtle thing. But it's not tape. At least it's not what I got out of my Ampex and MCI machines.

If my brain is not fooling me, when I had the Telefunken M15 A it wasnt night an day either, it was a subtle thing depending on machine settings and load of the input. Rounder transients head bump glued the image a bit etc.

I certainly know people who like slate tape: fine by me. I just preferred uad ampex. I’d put softube in between in a good way .

I checked it out and thought it did a cool thing to the sound, but I don't see how it fits into my workflow.
When I reach for a plugin, I've got something specific in mind that I'm going for. With something like this, I feel like I'm wasting time digging through presets to betterize something rather than focusing on the specifics of what the track needs.

Just had a play around with it. I like it. I’ll like having this. Machine B is my fav so far.

Electic guitars I always A/B slate or UA studer both at 15 ips, always prefer one other the other, commit plugin, done. This is generally what I do, though it is between Slate VTM, UAD Studer, Black Rooster Magnetite, Softube Tape and U-HE satin. Sometimes Waves Kramer or J37. Toneboosters Reeltape and Ferox can be great too.
Anyway, I try them and see what fits the song. Softube Tape is decent but I don't end up using it that much. I seem to like the others more. Though Type C(37?) can be great. A is a bit too subtle for me, B a bit too big in the lows.

Honestly, I’d have paid the $34 for the wobble and start/stop effects. They sound good and I’ll use them.

Tape sim is definitely a part of my workflow. I use it to "soften" things and add a little distortion sometimes. Tame those transients a bit, fuck up things a bit.
Today even for getting drums to pump a little more. Along with my new Waves API 2500 I got for $24!
