True. I record in my apartment's living room. The Ocean Way kind of overlays on the room sound and improves it, making it sound like a better room. If you close mic, it works even better. Yeah I think touring FOH, walking into different rooms night after night and finding favorite room sound presets were hit or miss taught me 2 important concepts You can’t fight the room and can’t replace the room, you have to work with the room. I think this is why plate’s and plate emulations are so popular, we know it’s not a room sound but it can add that something, something and easily give us the feeling of space and body while working with less than ideal spaces. I will say this every time I have tracked in a great room, far less need for the effects returns and magic boxes.

For the people that are using a Bricasti, how are you setting it up to get the desired room sound? Are you sending all of your mics? Just the rooms? Just the close mics?
Would love to hear about work flows with it considering its reached such a legendary status.
I've been getting decent results with instrument specific Reverb busses to account for space in a mix, but nothing that ever seems to approximate a great sounding room.
Our tracking room doesn't have the height I think we need to get a nice open kit sound and it definitely comes through in the amount we have to rely on our close mics.
I'm wondering how a bricasti might fix that in terms of practical application.

I have not heard another digital reverb blend with the source as well the M7 does.

Great tip, add reverb to low frequencies only for bass, wow, gotta try that.I like his term "specialty" reverb, it helps you to think of it in context.

The idea of specialty reverb is why I keep all my old Yamaha’s. There are just so many sounds in those boxes that just work on different things I. Different situations. The PRO3R is the only one I would use as a main verb but the Rev and SPX are just right as problem solvers.

I generally use Reverb to thicken all sources instead of using eq. Works better I think. I kill alot of higher freq info to the reverbs. Not saying im sending just bass but accenting sibilance and stuff is not what I want. If that makes sense.

How effective is the UAD Ocean Way plugin at "room replacement" ? I have been using it for quite some time. Lately though, I've pared down the number of instances in a session to acoustic guitar via an aux send. Other plugins like the Relab 480, VSR S24, Exponential Nimbus and R4 have taken over primary ambiance/reverb duty. Still use the UAD BX20, 250, and 140 as well- they are nice plates, as many say. I fantasize about owning a Bricasti System 4. The remote is sexxxy.

I've had various Lexicons, Kurzweils, etc. I bought one of the first M7s; I have a two-digit serial number. For me, HW reverb falls into two categories:
1. The M7 2. Everything else
Honestly, nothing compares to it for HW reverb. It may have be used in your own space to really get it. Incredible. It is one of the two pieces of gear with which I will be buried.
