I very rarely use eq on the 2 bus. On a few occasions I have used my Great River EQ 2NV to add a little punch to the bottom or air to the top if I began to notice that the low end or high end of a track wasn't matching the overall sound of the rest of the project. Just passing a mix through that EQ seems to add a bit of creamy goodness that sometimes makes me feel good. On a mixing session last year I played around with the "Air" and "Fat" switches on the Sonic Farm Creamer Plus on some mixes just to see what would happen, and got some nice tube-y richness in the bargain. I may try that again when I get to mixing some of the current album tracks. But, in general, I prefer to leave the 2 bus eq to the mastering engineer...

I found a good deal on a 'used' Museq license and grabbed it. I like what this thing does.

1066s across the mixbus with the EQs engaged are pretty magical.

I use a GML 8200 after my Smart C2 compressor I believe Nigel Godrich uses those two also. Not sure if always on the mix bus, but both are in his mobile racks.

UAD Pultec or Curve Bender at the moment but when they are ready it will be a pair of Stam EQP1a. This has been my generally successful couple of plugins on projects of mine that have been released. Well at the time I had PuigTec rather than UAD, but I do like my UAD Pultec now. Curve Bender seems tailor made for mix bus, and I got some great results. Maybe Maag EQ2 or EQ4 for the "Air" occasionally. I generally don't mix with EQ on the bus. It generally comes in towards the very end of a mix session. Or perhaps putting the files away for several weeks, and then "mastering" the 2-bus. Speaking of mastering EQ the TDR Slick EQ M is great for heavy handed or surgical type of corrections. When the broad strokes EQs are not enough. I really like my Elysia plugins so I'm going to have to demo the Museq. I have also used PSP Neon years ago and that one was pretty nice, too. I don't think I have any PSP plugins on my hard drive these days.

I've been using the Museq on the mixbus and the drum bus and bass guitar with really nice results. It's got a real pleasing sound to it.

I also will occasionally use Acustica Pearl 2 - the top is as gentle as I’ve ever heard.

Hey - try starting with the “master” preset. Oh yeah, hadn’t even thought of presets. I’ll check it out. Sometimes the M/S thing can be a little voodoo ish...but I really love where this preset starts. I usually pull down the ridiculous low end boost they have on the first knob, move the second one to about 65hz and go from there. I really like the little screw that you can turn to add in more of the side for a widening effect. I usually settle at about 1.5 to 1.8.

With M/S you have to remember your playing with phase and all the strange little things that can bring to the party. While it can make a great mix shine like a diamond in the window of Tiffany’s it can just as easily turn it into a pile a poo that just left a poodle named Tiffany.

Miad eq's came yesterday. I've used them for about 6 hours. These things are pretty amazing. Really sad sounding when you switch them off even with just .5-1 db here and there. I could not be happier with these... unless they had 1db stepped attenuators. Miad's almost make the pultecs redundant and they are more useful too.

I think at this point nothing else would be 'better', just 'different'.

Yup. Something clinical but euphonic like a GML, but you can get that out of plugins too....
