Got a line on one...but for the 1000th time, I'm having trouble pulling the trigger. I have no idea why...Any users want to push me over the ledge?

LOVE mine - clean or pushed. The gain knob is detented so once you find its happy place for specific a mic/instrument (especially a vocal where you might come back another day to change something) it's great for recall.
Only con I can think of: 2 spaces (if you have 500 real estate problems).

I have 8 channels....
And the 2 channel eq
GREAT on male vocal
BUT I know your voice...
It's either going to make it deep and wide or to fast up top not sure.

Best mic preamp I've used thus far. Big and beautiful. I AB'd it to the Heritage DMA73 I used for a long time (using matched pairs of mics on a few sources) and the Great River won out. And that's saying something caused I loved that DMA73. The Great River sounded a little smoother in the high mids, which is a big deal for my voice.

I would think the brighter P1 would be a bad match for me...that’s actually what I remember from the Pacifica. Great pre...little bright on my. I think I’ve talked myself out of it, though...I just got the Heritage and will most likely purchase one of the new double super secret pres that are coming out soon.

And that’s so true...every time I go to buy a pre, I remember how that could be going toward a mic lol. Pres are like offensive linemen. It’s extremely evident when they’re not good, but when things are running smoothly you don’t hear their names...

Great mic pre. I loved it so much I bought a second one. I use them on a ton of different sources

I have the Heritage handwired and Heritage Jr's with eq's and they are very different from the GRNP-2NV's....
To me the GR 2NV's are almost between the Capi VP28 and the Heritage leaning like the Capi on top, Heritage but bigger AND tighter then the Heritage on the bottom....

I've got the RTZ 9762 (2-channel 19" rack), but I've always thought about swapping it for a GR-2NV, mainly because I already have the GR EQ-2NV, and I'm curious about how they sound together through the link hookup.

The more I use the Great River pres the more I use them. They are some of my favorites for sure. They aren't a special blue paint job or crazy knobs but they sound better and better to me.

A friend of mine has a studio I use a bunch. He has 6 of the pres and eq channels along with a stash everything else. I always use the GR pres first. They sound amazing on so many things. B3, Vocals, Acoustic guitars, Drums, electric guitars and the DI's are really nice if you aren't gonna use a ZOD . Johnkenn you should really find a way to demo one at least so you know. And like I said it is one of those things that the more you use it the more you like it.

In that Soundpure Neve shootout I definitely preferred the Great River over all the others.

The Great River is the most neutral Neve style preamp...but it has the option of driving the input into a nice tone, saturation etc. Pulling back the output trim knob, gives you that forward, dense Neve thing. But its still different. Its a lot less "cluttered" or "bunched" up, when stacking tracks with it. Tracks just have more space to them in the mix, while still giving that nice tonal power. The DI input sounds amazing. It was "tweezed" for a Pbass...but sounds dope with a guitars too..especially a Fender. I find the Great River to be the most versatile neve-style pre on the market.

Great River my 1st pick Avalon #2 Heritage #3 ...but, yes, a different pre for each circumstance in which the momentary variables will present themselves, begging for the one that makes a difference...and so, Viva la difference!!

I have to admit, in the recent Soundpure Neve shootout the Great River was the preamp that stuck out to me. The BAE had that dark vintage tone, but there was something I really liked about the Great River. Like John, I’d want to try it first though.

I’ve had 4 or 5 Neve style pres here for several years. The Great River always sounds good. Although Neve type pres are my favs, and I use them on most recordings, they do have lots of color and in some cases I use other pres for certain things. The Great River is the exception. For a colored pre, it works well on pretty much everything and in the context of any style mix. I can’t say that about any other Neve type pre.
