Not to take this completely off topic, but who here has or has used the GR 500 Series EQ? I’ve been looking at them and they look really nice. I’m curious how they sound.

The GR is a modern much cleaner take on the classic Neve pre, Nothing else can do what it can. If you want a really warm and fuzzy Neve sound this isn’t it, Think you crossed a Mill Media with a 1272 and this is the result.

Oh yea man, the Harrison 32EQ is a treat. It has two modes, Feedforward and Feedback, so its somewhat of a moving target, to describe its action. But overall, these filters are insanely transparent and soft sounding. Its a "do no harm" processor. Its very gentle and sweet. nice airy transformer tone. But not heavy handed. Its clean and neutral, but the main thing is that the phase-shift from aggressive cuts and boosts is zero. Totally great for tracking and removing junk, or highlighting what is there. I dig them a lot. Also, you should check out Dan's PWM-501 compressor. Totally radical design that does a lot.

Adam can attest to this as he was there for the development I believe... The GR when paired with the GR NP-NV becomes much more Neve like with MANY options... I use it with a GR 2NV for drum bus... The EQ2NV couples to the MP2NV in a way, that has a tendency to open eyelids wider than an envelope with money in it. When you hang the EQ2NV off the insert point of the MP2NV, it gives you all the options you could possibly imagine. Like, taking the +29 transformer-less outputs of the EQNV, or the +24 transformer-output of the MP2NV. And when using with Line Level signal into the EQ2NV, taking the MP2NV's +24 transformer output, definitely gets closer to my experience using the 1073/1081's of the past. It is more colored sounding than just using the EQ2NV by itself. Obviously, getting more iron on the signal. But its still not the same. its even better. If you ask me.

The GR Harrisons are very cool. The filters rule.
I really Love the GR Rack eq's. I have 2 of them and a Mastering EQ. They are so good!
