The freeloading is over boys! LOL I keed, but I am releasing this. I hope to make enough to cover the $45 it took to release it. Thank you all for your opinions! Really made things much clearer! johnkennedy.hearnow.com/

I like E better, which is a bit less loud and bright than A to my ears. The hi hat and everything else in that frequency range is not as bright in E as it is in A.

E for me. Same reason - less bright. I like the energy that A brings; but got a little fatigued by the bright and perhaps a bit too much crush. Nice work.

I could live with both....but E sounds a little more relaxed.

I like the top of E, but the bottom is a bit boomy (75-80Hz if you're wondering), so A seems more balanced in context.

OMG, E hands down... but because it is LESS boomy on certain frequencies that KILL my ears!! Low-mud makes me nauseous, to put it mildly. There's something around 100-250 makes me wanna hurl sometimes. A lot less of it there in 'E'.
I'd love to have that session and put my hand to a remix of it.

E for me -- chorus was more dramatic and engaging with the increased dynamic range. Nice song!

While I agree the toms have too much sub low stuff in it....E. THe A version has that "quality" where you hear the kick happen but don't FEEL it....? I thought it was also interesting reading the comments--I thought the E was brighter than A. A just sounded neutered relative to E. When I listened to E, I thought "what a nice recording--little boomy on some toms....and he's a little shy with his vocal level (and particularly releative to the delay line)....but, all within the window of nice sounding. When I listened to A, I didn't think that. I thought...."ehh" to the sonics. IMO.

I swear I'm not trying to get people to listen lol. I was gonna release this to CD Baby as a single...maybe I'm big in Tunisia. Anyway, trying to decide if the Aria Mix A or E is better. A is more consistent with the radio, but also freaking crushed...what do you think? I might have labeled them differently by now, but the loud one is A and the softer, E. Vocal is more emotional in A for me and that to me is the focal point of the song, you singing and pouring your heart out... yes A is more crushed but if you want to sell this as a single I think this may be better... I did not have time to level match just listened to them as is, if level matched in DAW I may pick the other, however from this comparison alone A sounds more single like and radio friendly... Haha everyone picked E... what do I know 😩🤓

E all day long. That said, the difference is subtle but A just sounds like it's 'trying too hard'

Btw, would be interested to hear the unmastered track. I've been tempted to try Aria recently as I heard some good stuff online. Just haven't gone there.. Someone I know was saying that if you send it back it's own result, which logically it shouldn't need to process, it will process it again... which suggests that it's not really listening / as intelligent as it could be. Still, some of the demo's I heard were quite impressive.

I slapped on Pearl on the master channel and actually added there. Probably should have stuck with what I knew worked.

I'll try and post my version without limiting and clean up the low end and remaster

Here's my original mix with EQ and UAD Vari Mu on the 2 bus. I fixed a couple of those issues and re-submitted to Aria...that way we can hear a before and after.

HI,
The bar is officially high :-)
I much preferred E. I listened to A first and though that the vocals are too forward, especially in the verses .. it doesn't suit the music style at all. E is nicer and seems to have a better low end too.
Great stuff.

Ahhhhhhh...Had my buffers set to 128 trying to process all this shit...hence the weirdness.

Cool song and killer performance. Not in the studio to give an opinion on the mix but the car is definitely the bleach test for me too. I was listening to the Jack White Tapeop podcast and he described a method where he is sitting in a car listening and instructing the mixer in real-time on walkie-talkies. Ha!

I can only listen on my phone right now, so no comment on the versions, but I love the song, John!

Thanks, guys!
I uploaded the E Master to CD Baby...and then I changed my mind...and A is up. I might change it again. When I'm listening in the car, I find A to be brighter in the harsh frequencies, but bigger on bottom. I probably like E better, but when I think about competing for sync placement and the like, I want to be as loud as the next guy...I know, I know...but I want to make money.
