I plugged things in like normal and powered up, signal in daw, can hear it through laptop, can't get it passed by Symphony mkii, see it in meastro but ?
Any suggestion how to trouble shoot ?
I redownloaded the software and reinstalled.

Most likely something in maestro. Maestro alone is enough for me to swear off Apogee.

So no playback of iTunes either?

Yeah if you're hearing it on internal speakers, you need to choose the Symphony in your DAW.

Yes I have done all the preference settings and even with the Smkii selected it does not receive or pass signal: daw or itunes.
I was abe to see the signal in meastro before I downloaded the software and re installed but not now.
Apogee support is closed over teh weekend: drag.
Maestro get replaced very soon with a new software interface: can't wait.
They have an set with logic video on their website I will redo all that and see.

You could try trashing DAW preferences and/or defaulting your I/O then restarting/resetting up?

Everything is working except output. Ragan do you mean in Maestro or in my daw for resetting the i/o ?

Everything is working except output. Ragan do you mean in Maestro or in my daw for resetting the i/o ? I meant DAW, but I don't have any experience with Logic. But sometimes trashing PT pregs fixes weird little issues that pop up. And in PT, you can go into the I/O settings and delete everything and default it. Maybe something like that in Logic? Is everything set up correctly in Maestro? The output stuff? There's that little "X" that needs to be assigned to the right outputs (whatever your monitors are connected to).

And if the monitor "X" (Maestro) is set to hear the Mixer 1 output, you need to have the "Software Return" up.

I remember the software x monitor 1 and 2 thingys were tricky. If you have that set wrong you will get no output. That's my guess

That's my guess It's funny, I kinda lived in fear of Maestro whenever I'd think about trying Apogee. Now that I'm using it, I find it pretty simple. Not nearly as slick as UAD Console of course but I bet the new version about to come out is way slicker. It's been their Achilles heel, reputation wise, and in sure they've taken note.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new Maestro is like, but so far since I got my Symphony MKII I've tracked and mixed two songs and other than opening Maestro when I first got it to set it up, I've never opened it again. Guess if I had the apogee preamps installed that would be different.

Guess if I had the apogee preamps installed that would be different. Yeah I can't really run stable sessions at 64 buffer and I can't hack even slight latency. I'm used to the immediacy of analog and/or UAD Console, so I use it for direct monitoring.

I got it working by putting the Line 1/2 and HP l/r in the top line in Output routing so aligned with Software and line 1-2 outputs. This isn't how the apogee CS guy had it set up but I can hear the session 2 bus output this way . I run my amp off 1/2. Can't say I feel like I understand Maestro or why the settings that had been working stopped working or changed ? Guess I will talk to Apogee CS on Monday and get it all sorted out. I was hoping not to have any maestro problems and just get into the new software gui .

Did a little further tweaking this morning. Apogee has a Maestro 2 manual that shows pics and features but doesn't actually explain what is happening to the signal; for us software gui luddites:) I infer that the software mixer (like UA console gui) is what gives you the low latency monitoring, so I kept my 2 buss out L 1/2 but have my headphones coming off Mixer 1, I tested in a session counting along to a click track and there is no latency. But I wil still talk with CS tomorrow

Bro, feel free to message me. I'm well versed in making maestro work. I've had a symphony for a few years now, with the mic pre card.

Nice, thx NFC !, ya that 8 pre converter module must be very nice, especially if you are a Logic user, as you are

According to Apogee when they release their software update for Symphony I/O MkII- which will offer "standalone routing - people with be able to use cards like my RME AES 32 and Totalmix instead of Maestro. Of course, people hate Totalmix too. LOL

Totalmix ROCKS... ZERO latency monitoring... I use totalmix to get headphone mixes and A/B between the dry and processed track... I NEVER use the monitoring button in the DAW.... It has latency !

I don't know why you guys think Maestro sucks. It's pretty easy to use. What problems do you guys have with it? Maybe I can help clear the stigma around it..

Maybe I've been lucky. I've used a Symphony Mark I for the last few years and never even open Maestro. Everything just seems to work so long as the Symphony is selected as the input and output device in Logic.

@nofilterchuck,
could you post a screenshot of your output routing ?
What I don't understand is why mine reset ?

Yeah if you're not needing super low/near zero latency you don't even need to use it (obviously).
