Here is my mix with M57 Piano in it. cheers Wiz PS Bonus points if you can tell where the piano in the picture is located... and what the mark on the key is 8) Nice balance, nice compression! 8) Definitely could've used many more delays though! haha Good job on making the piano fit in, not sure i like the deep range on the gating, it's dropping into silence a bit unnaturally to my ears, but a really nice job as usual wiz! piano from Sun? btw, upon listening to my mix this AM, seems my vocal is a bit hot......, not so bad considering the voice you're singing it with...., that you stole from me years ago......., in my sleep......., ya bastard!

I did this last night pretty quick, i put a bunch of fun ideas on it, then today I dropboxed it down under, and it was soundly rejected by that tyrant wiz! haha, so i just took off my "production ideas" and tried to balance out what wiz gave me with very little liberties taken, he was right, this one's better... (bastard! 8) The tracks were recorded very nicely, he knows what is, i didn't have to do any eq at all, but chose to do a little on the snare, the rest is filtering and compression, delay's, verb. edit; if anyone cares to know, t's a DR15 on TT dynamic range meter. https%3A//soundcloud.com/tonycamp/i-wont-cry-nomoMine came in at 14 so I felt compelled to crush it down - and I have to admit that even at 13, mine feels overcompressed.. Taking notes on what Wiz and you are doing.

"Piano from Sun" What does this mean? Sun Studio's Memphis, Elvis style.... The photo on my soundcloud link... is indeed the piano from Sun, and the mark on the E and F keys, is a cigar burn put there by Jerry Lee Lewis... 8) I took that photo when recording there last October... cheers Wiz

My first attempt. I think at least i want to take a fader ride on the echo bus, but it's not that bad - in the second half of the song i find it pretty much the way i wanted it...most of the time the Mixbus3 new sidechain compressor keeps the delay bus out of main LV - works somehow. Since i filtered the signal on the way into the echo bus, i decided to leave breathings in the LV. (Otherwise they are by far too heavy and obvious if compressed and echoed with open highs. Like now they are hearable but i like them to be there for some live feeling.) I took the freedom to use completely new drums on the song. :-) But i think they fit the song and are a quite similar groove. I fitted in M57's piano into the mix later and came immediately to the idea to let it come in later and i wanted it to sound like many of the 80s pianos sound, i.e. like a harpsichord transformation. I used Eventides SuperChannel for this, it has nice presets for this. I also used Eventides 2016 for the reverbs, but the 3d delay from Harrison for all other effects stuff. I used much more different reverb this time as i use to normally. But not too bad... The tracks were great. I used no EQ except the Mixbus ones. Compressors used: Klanghelm MJUC and the Harrison Mixbus channel and bus dynamics. I have no clue what DR the track has, i did not use any compression or limiting in the master bus. Tischmeyers offline DR-meter seems not to like any 24/96 formats... If someone else has a better meter, i would be interested, what dynamic range this mix is... You can download hd audio file on soundcloud, 24/96 FLAC format. The low end seems to fade a bit away with soundclouds stream compression...
BTW, Wiz, your song got immediately / within minutes a like without ANY announcement at all. Well it's just a great song and a great voice. :-) Have fun listening.

Wow. I just listened to your mixes and they sound very different. Especially you have the voice MUCH louder than me, seemingly, and have a more puristic sound! I am glad i did not listen to yours before - i would really have redone everything, but so, it shows, what my first ideas were, when i listened to the song. Ha, and another soundcloud like. It IS a good song, Wiz. It's a song of hope and the end of hard times, i like it very much, too. It just makes a good mood in a relaxed way.

Hey @smallbutfine Interesting to hear such a departure from my mix... Glad you didn't listen to others before doing yours... Really left of centre... 8) (not panning, I mean in an artistic way 8) ) cool cheers Wiz

Funny you mention that "left of the center"! The drumset was originally panned the snare *right* of the center, like ward told he likes... But it does not sound right to me. So i flipped left and right in the stereo stem. :-)

So i flipped left and right in the stereo stem. :-) I'm going to wait a little before I take another crack at it, but I'm pretty sure I flipped the set too, and something didn't sound right (I have no idea how or why, they're just mono tracks, right? I'm not at my studio now so this is just from memory - but it somehow lost depth and seemed thinner). I haven't flipped it back yet, so that'll be on the docket.

Hi guys! I've been reading the forum for a while now, I learn a lot from you all everyday so first thing: thank you! Here's my try, I only mixed my favorite part of the song because I'm quite busy at the moment but that was fun. Every track was very well recorded by the way, very pleasant material to work with. clyp.it/hsril5js

Nice D, could totally hear your style fingerprint on the guitar adlibs, the presence of a cowbell proves you are quite possibly the coolest cat ever to grace the planet! 8)

Just got here. Wiz, I'm hearing an organ pad all over this! Kinda Stax/Volt-ish. Too bad I don't play keys, I'd knock one out.
