---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wiz's Original Tracks and contributed track links.
I Wont Cry No More Tracks (Bass Drums Two Guitars and Vocal)
M57 Piano Tracks---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We did this last year with just a mix and it was fun. So what about something different this year? In the zip file linked above you will find 10 tracks to the song called "I Wont Cry No More" Its at 112 Bpm, its in the Key of A, tracked at 48Khz 24 bit. You can do what you want with it. You can just mix it. You can replace any of the parts you want. You can add anything you want. You can re write the lyrics, absolutley anything. Except you can't use the song or any of the parts to make money. No rules... except the not for profit thing. enjoy Happy to answer any questions... lets have some fun! cheers Wiz

wiz - I just downloaded these and played the tune through a couple times. You have a section marked solo but no solo instrument file. Is this deliberate so we can track our own lead? Cool tune and nice tracks. Nice little pick me up. I love these threads!

Tony you must not have heard - PT now has a subscription only plugin which allows you to import tracks from other DAWS at unity gain. If you don't have the plug, you get unbelievably quiet tracks. Good news is the plug is only $9.99/mo. Bad news is you must use their brand new proprietary hardware to instantiate the plug in your session. $599/year

Wiz - What's up with the snare track? I don't hear a hint of the cymbals, just some hat bleed here and there. Did you do that with just a gate? ..or is something else going on?

I threw down a piano take today for anyone that wants to use it. One stereo pair and a room mic. Use at your peril - After tracking I noticed that the left channel of the stereo track was breaking up in just a few places (Pre-amp issues I believe). Cut/paste and mangle as you please on Wiz's song - Same rules of engagement as Wiz's. www.dropbox.com/sh/n0ye9km4bdqwo1h/AABd8chvXv3Osvd2D8t3oixma?dl=0

Thought I'd post my first crack at it.. Used the entire piano track and a little on the hot side so folks could hear my contribution. Of course, now that I'm actually listening to it, I realize I overdid that tremolo lick - Let's just call it a "theme." soundcloud.com/m57/i-wont-cry-no-more-first-mix/s-RnHV8Was hoping you all could give me some mixing pointers.

No automation or flexing ..yet. Was hoping you all could give me some pointers. Nice Mark! I'm going to try to use some of that piano in my track. Really cool of you to put that up for everyone. Thanks!

I just asked Wiz if he could put my files in his dropbox folder for one-stop shopping.
I'm getting a Stones vibe. There's lots of space for a lead guitar or sax. Any takers? I know Wiz is encouraging folks to work on it on their own, but I'm much more into the collaborative thing. Anyway, with that in mind I was thinking about BV's. Wouldn't it be cool if a bunch of us sang 'em? It would probably be challenging to mix because of different mics, placement and rooms, but..

The Stones, lead guitar and sax are exactly what I'm hearing! I started tracking some lead guitar last night. I was going to PM you about your thoughts on sax. I was going to reach out to NoFilterChuck this morning. Chuck you interested? Sorry to put you on the spot bud...

My internet is too slow to be uploading everyones tracks to my dropbox.. but... I am supposed to be getting faster net this week, when that happens no problems... what I will do is copy your link into the first post, and anyone else as well.. so its easy to find.. that cool? cheers Wiz

Nothing beats real instruments eh... 8) The stereo imbalance is a real easy fix in logic, with the direction mixer so it was no problem what so ever... love the rolls in the bridge... I would have loved some tinkling solo stuff during the end around the voice... like call and answer stuff... thanks for doing this... I really liked the sound of the piano.. cheers Wiz

Logic is one scary sick program for the money, huh? 8) Yeah, I considered riffing at the end but I was thinking the end tinkering call/answering should be lead guitar and/or sax à la stones. On the other hand, if someone does that and leaves just a few spaces - I'd be happy to go back and put in some answers. The tune really cries out for another lead instrument imo.

I did this last night pretty quick, i put a bunch of fun ideas on it, then today I dropboxed it down under, and it was soundly rejected by that tyrant wiz! haha, so i just took off my "production ideas" and tried to balance out what wiz gave me with very little liberties taken, he was right, this one's better... (bastard! 8) The tracks were recorded very nicely, he knows what is, i didn't have to do any eq at all, but chose to do a little on the snare, the rest is filtering and compression, delay's, verb. edit; if anyone cares to know, t's a DR15 on TT dynamic range meter. https%3A//soundcloud.com/tonycamp/i-wont-cry-nomo
