Hmmm...seems like my unit has a balance problem.

Right side seems to be about 6 db softer than the left. I've run a test tone...doesn't happen when I patch in anything else - like two VP28s...It's happening when the compressor is in and out. Any ideas?

6dB sounds like balanced vs unbalanced. (cable type , loose connection etc)
check cables.. then maybe crack the top and have a look see.... are you running through patch bay? try going direct
cheers

YES! COMPLETELY MY FAULT!
Sorry, I had to go pick up my kid and my dog that just got spayed today.
My patch bay was set to normal - not denormal. That was the issue.

I'll do a more complete review in the review section, but man, just the short time I've gotten to play with it - and put it on drum bus, it's pretty fabulous. It gives a great bloom and euphonic-ness...Can't wait to try it on the master bus.

And might I add... PHUCK stam , are you some kind of voodoo witchy warlock? Are you just ripping out SSL comps and putting them in your own cases? When you orderers get yours, you'll know what I mean. No secrets here mano, just follow the original schematic without changing anything, it should sound the same as an SSL, source the best parts, use your ears and above all use quality capacitors, particularly here where no transformers nor tubes nor other variants come in play. I use Panasonics on the SA4000, Vishay's on the 1073 and SA87 and Solen Fast or Vishay's SA-2A. I will never place chinesse capacitors on the audio path. Thanks for the nice feedback, I am very happy that you guys are happy! Yummmm... I like capacitors.... ! SoZo

Good to hear it was you not the comp! Had a well known engineer, who I won't name to protect the guilty, who bought a DBX 1066 loved it except one channel was really really quite. He and his tech tried everything sent it back a bit pissed this was serial number #9! Well he sends it in, I walk in to service , beg Rick the service manager to look at it right away! Well on the back there are a pair of -10, +4 switches! One is set -10 the other +4! This guy has all the big awards and been in all the magazines and misses the level switches so John your in very good company! I never told him,so if he reads this I might be in big. Trouble!😱

Good news. Now I'm getting excited. I paid my invoice but haven't got tracking numbers yet. Same here... Good news is the Correos Chile ( Stam's parcel service ) is no longer on strike and the parcel service has upped his shipping limit to 30 units a day...

Got my number yesterday - really excited to start using it with my home rig.
I'm going to try and post some clips of this thing in direct comparison to the bus comps on the J and K series I have access to.

I'm sooooo used to working in the box with the Drums that committing to burning a 2 track down has gotten me kinda bummed. I will often decide late in a mix that there's just a tad too much verb on the snare...or OHs need to come down...or something. So, I'm learning how to get this thing in my workflow.
