I think I might make a pair of these, and then look at Jeff Steiger's FC526 as my next for the 500 series.
For some reason I have become a huge DBX 160 fan in the past few months. I used to not even like them much, I sold the older one I had. I suppose I've...come around.

...geez, I almost bit, but then an equally attractive deal came up for these...(how long before someone posts, "but you never track with a de-esser"?)... ...this is not your daddy's de-esser...crazy smooth and absolutely transparent (non-destructive)...couldn't resist! Attachments:

Sometimes it makes complete sense to track with a de-Esser. I haven't hosed it yet.

That's cool kidvybes, I didn't even know something like that existed! I don't have a lunchbox anyway.. The 2 guys behind the XQP gear are very talented and funny...you have to watch their videos...I hear only great things about their designs... Condensed version: Full length madness:

Sometimes it makes complete sense to track with a de-Esser. I haven't hosed it yet. I spoke with a few respected guys who use the XQP 531 (500 series version of the 90's "Dane 31") and they told me it's so transparent and gentle, you cannot tell it's there...the design is actually very unique...instead of the typical surgical-style frequency cut, it allows you to set a baseline (3K, 5K, or 7K) and depending on how much grab you dial in, it will eliminate "essiness" above the baseline frequency chosen...totally non-destructive I'm told...looking forward to trying it on some singers... Sorry if I derailed the DBX 560A flow...

I've almost pulled the trigger on one of those many times. I seem to be dealing with esses a lot less though these days with the MK-U47.

ReviveAudio.com is doing mods to the new and old 560's to give them more headroom and give them more frequency spectrum. I talked with them yesterday and I think I am gonna send mine to them to make them better. Stock, they have a bit of a soggy sound that I don't care for.
