They look pretty rad. Yea I really dig them. I have quite a few guitar pedals and the Merris pieces allow me to add pedals for mixing. Helps me find original sounds. I'm a big fan of Merris.

I like it. I used to track bass and vocals with it all the time. The amp circuit has a good sound on it's own.

We've got us a slow starter here. But for what it's worth, I track almost everything I do through these two CAPI VP312 modified preamps. Eventually I'd like to catch up with you guys.

Here's my two capi racks.... missing my new PICO 502's. Is it possible to get a bigger picture? Speaking of all things 500, what is the general consensus on what works in the voltage starved 500 format environment and what doesn't - honestly, please?

Someone should tell all those classic API console owners like Steiger that their consoles are starving.... hehe +16 + -16 = 32 = > 24 I'm no electronics guru, but I've got no problems with 500 series modules - IF - they are designed properly, and - IF - the power supply is up to snuff. (Not all are created equal) My biggest problem with the 500 series is those racks keep filling up... :-)

Speaking of all things 500, what is the general consensus on what works in the voltage starved 500 format environment and what doesn't - honestly, please? What? I see nothing wrong with the 500 series format. The vintage API consoles are based on bipolar 16V which is what the 500 series racks are. I really don't know where the term "voltage starved" would come from but I would call it a faulty source. A typical discrete opamp/output transformer based circuit will yield +28dBu of headroom on +/-16V. I think that is more than enough. Increasing the supply voltage will increase the headroom capabilities but I highly doubt +28dBu is a problem.

Clearly API were designed for the 500 series and so are your CAPI units!
