Quad Eight. But in practice it's headroom you can almost never access. The whole 'starved 500 series' talk really needs to end. There's not much that makes sense in a 500 slot that eats more than the spec provides. There used to be various 3rd party rack with iffy supplies, but that's true of a lot of consoles too!

500 series boils down to having high quality racks and equal quality modules for me. The RTZ is my pick as they are over built and are the only rack that I know of that keep modules cool with a fan and proper venting that draws heat away from all of the modules. It works best when they are full though. They are the only rack I would want near all of my hot running old tube gear. There is a reason that just the BOM list is more expensive than most cheap racks are these days.

The Mercury is another very solidly built rack.

Speaking of all things 500, what is the general consensus on what works in the voltage starved 500 format environment and what doesn't - honestly, please? I love the Tonelux units that I have. Sold my API 2500 and kept the TX5C pair I had, then added a second pair. Super flexible. The eq's are really nice too. I had a pair of Lindell eq's that I sold. They didn't have the flexibility or tone of my Summit EQP-200, so they got kicked to the curb.
