Some of the best snare sounds I've ever achieved were with my Pork Pie Big Black. I recently picked up an early 90's Black Beauty and am looking forward to comparing the two in a recording. Hopefully soon

I have 2 black beauty snares 6.5 "and 5.5" and a lot of other snares (I'm a snare collector's nerd). But Pearl brass free floating 14x6.5 it's a snare that I use almost all the time. Do not cost too much used and always deliver a good, stable, warm sound. Bought a backup of the same snare in the days. Recommends warmly Here is a old pic i have on that snare

Been using my Yamaha Absolute maple custom snare a lot recently on an acoustic project lately.

And then, there's the COB Super Ludwig reissue (LB402B). Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks exactly like a BB - same spun brass shell (chrome plated instead of nickel), same hoops, same lugs, same strainer, same badge, heads and specs. But, it's a couple hundred dollars less. www.ludwig-drums.com/en-us/ludwig/products/snare-drums/chrome-over-brassHas anyone here tried one of these or compared it to the BB? Nobody I've tried locally has one in stock...
