Looks like they shipped today (at least mine), I'm only 2 days from them, so it should be here Thursday. Very much looking forward to it. Immediately going on the mix bus, I'm loving the seperate inputs for that. Please report back!!

Did I hear a rumour that AS were going to recreate the Pye compressor? Wonder how far that is from production? Might be some chatter, but can't confirm any rumors yet! Don't forget, we've put a lot of effort into a ton of new offerings this year and the 1178 is on the docket for final spec and production soon... but in the meantime, ALL HAIL THE GOLDEN CALF! Jump on the website just before 8PM EST today, please.

Is there a glitch? I’ve been refreshing for the last 5 min and it never showed in stock?

Dang, they must have sold within 10-20 seconds, because I was trying to add right at 8:00 PM EST to no avail.
Hopefully this Saturday will be a different story!
Best of luck to all, congrats to those that managed to snag one.

I've got a Tab Funkenwerk V72S with NOS Telefunken EF86 tubes courtesy of Bowie. Is there overlap with the 58? I realize nobody knows except for audioscape .

I’m not particularly in the market, but if I were, this kind of stuff would turn me off. Why not take pre-orders and deliver the product to whomever wants it?

I’m not particularly in the market, but if I were, this kind of stuff would turn me off. Why not take pre-orders and deliver the product to whomever wants it? I feel like there's no perfect way of providing gear to the customer that's in high-demand, low supply. Unless a company is completely transparent with what's going out with update emails or something of the like, you start seeing people in the public space (forums/social media?) start corroborating order dates and lack of timely responses, and what not, when delays or supply issues come into account -- to be clear, I'm talking about purple site forum sentiment pre-pandemic. I'm totally speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of these smaller manufacturers/businesses choose not to do these long-term pre-orders to avoid that sort of issue.
Not meant to be a slight either, because generally speaking, when people get those long-awaited pre-orders fulfilled, they' always report back thrilled with the resulting arrival/performance. In AudioScape's case, while I have certainly missed out on drops because of plans, work, travel, or just slow fingers in this case (ha); other days, I've placed an order and received it in 4-5 days after, which makes it nearly as quick as getting something from the big-name store when it's in stock, but certainly less* expensive for what you're getting.

I've heard nothing but very favorable reports on AS gear so my comment is not about quality. I'd be happy to put some in the rack but don't have the time or desire to race the clock for gear at a certain time on certain days. Far too stressful. If I made limited batches of gear, I'd either do it via preorders or simply update my website as things were ready for purchase and shipping. AS shouldn't listen to me however as it seems to work quite well for them.

THE AS format is kinda exciting. Like a quest. Of course I want a Golden 58 real bad but my budget isn't ready so I've been secretly relieved that I didn't make it through. I'm sure I would feel different if I had the cash on hand specifically allocated for the item.

I'm not sure how much stomach I have for "losing" the opportunity to buy gear multiple times before I call it a day. The gear looks great, people seem super cool too. I've only heard good things overall.

I’m not particularly in the market, but if I were, this kind of stuff would turn me off. Why not take pre-orders and deliver the product to whomever wants it? Eh. The first few AS pieces I got, I got off reverb, they commonly come up there and most honor Chris's pricing request. So the prices are good. Now I can reliably snag a piece on drop night, and so can everyone else who follows the steps Chris and I have outlined above. Its actually not that hard. I'm not sure it's "more fair" to do presales, I mean, why? Why isn't this more fair? I know it's not as convenient, but from their end, pre-sales w/o deposits can be a mess, and he has stated why he doesn't want to take money upfront. I really respect their approach to their business and obvious integrity. And truthfully, it may turn you off, but perceived shortage of supply is rarely a bad thing for demand. You can get any AS piece you want if you have a little bit of patience or the ability to click a mouse 3 times at the correct time. There are very few of their models that don't pop up on reverb. And if somehow you are still unable to get one using these methods, you can just email Chris or Nicole, and they will hold one for you, probably out of the next batch (not sure about the Golden 58 with the limited quantity), and they will save you one. With no deposit. Both my D3A and my EQP-A were scored this way, I sent Chris an email, and I had each of them less than two weeks from when I contacted them. Who does that? And I'm a nobody. I have no connections, I had not heavily invested in A-S gear at the time, I was just very interested in both models, gutted to miss them online, and simply sent Chris a message saying so. Nicest guy in this industry I've ever met. And the build quality/sonics to cost ratio is just obscene. Nothing comes close imo. Looks like they shipped today (at least mine), I'm only 2 days from them, so it should be here Thursday. Very much looking forward to it. Immediately going on the mix bus, I'm loving the seperate inputs for that. Please report back!! The eagle has landed. Beautiful! Hooking her up now.

OK, I have talked to the AS guys a couple of times and have nothing to do with this one and more or less agree BUT. In a world where it seams everything is made of unobtainium and unknown inflation, yeah I can see this as a way to figure out how elastic your market is. It’s also a damn cheap way to generate some publicity on the cheap.

[quote author=" Johnkenn "RIP the ability to email Chris for holding gear...lol [/quote] I dont think this is particularly a secret, I see it commonly recommended by other owners of AS gear, and I'm pretty sure I have seen Chris state it multiple times. Regardless, if it's not something that they would like posted, I will happily redact. SNIP Who does that? And I'm a nobody. I have no connections, SNIP You're not a nobody to audioscape That's been very clear in my dealings with Chris and Nicole, I've been very impressed and appreciative with how they treat some dude that just emails them out of the blue. Certainly have earned a lifetime customer.
