I just saw that Kush hardware was on sale. I also see that Sweetwater no longer carries Kush (I didn't check other retailers) and that Kush is also apparently now selling direct.
Either way, $399 for a brand new Electra 500 is cheaper than you can even buy a used one. I may have to finally pick up a second pair of these.

Selling direct the very best way to get a dealer to drop or ignore you!

I usually check Plugin Boutique and Plugin Discounts, sometimes they will have extra coupons on top of the sales, or just a low price in general, on the things they carry.

That’s who some guys here turned me on to. www.bestservice.com/index.htmlPrices were all the same, but these guys gave me a free reverb plug that I'll probably never use, and didn't charge sales tax. They won for me.

I know I scored some toontrack stuff one time cheaper but that was when tt wasn’t running a sale of their own. I scored an upgrade to Studio One much cheaper through them one time. They are certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Been waiting to demo the PA SSL 9000J until it was close to Black Friday time. What everyone says about the dynamics section is true, it's really good. If they bump it way down to $50 I'll buy it. My guess is, since it's their flagship strip and it hasn't been on sale yet, it'll be more like $100 and I'll pass. It's good though. The Brainworx bx_console SSL 9000 is excluded from the 30 dollar sale. THD on the 4000s, 9000, and Neve (not the Lindell) and is just a non-oversampled tanh function on the EQ. The Focusrite isn't and is the coolest one. The effects of the circuitry and parts aren't really modeled at all on the others. I doubt TMT is either from my demos of it unless the console they may have taken it from needed repairs.

On what values/parameters?

On what values/parameters? The THD button on most of the bx_consoles just run the output of the EQ through a tanh(x) function without any oversampling. It's just a wave shaper. You might as well use a cleaner one. Attachments:

So we’re just trying to avoid discontinuity so that derivatives exist everywhere? What’s the (theoretical) problem? I guess I’m trying to suss out whether this is an actual Nyquist limit issue or just a dogmatically anti-aliasing kind of stance. Either is fine, I’m just curious. My like of the 9000J is because of the EQ and dynamics, not the THD, though I mostly enjoy that too.

THD is a static waveshapers emulating ideal transistor pairs rather than the sound of the circuitry of the consoles that they claim to model. I love a lot of stuff with aliasing like the PSP and Good Hertz plugs but they do more soundwise.

I love a lot of stuff with aliasing like the PSP and Good Hertz plugs but they do more soundwise. Just curious, how can you tell? The bx_consoles sounded too similar in my demos with them so I put them into plugin doctor and it’s a waveshaping function like those In freeclip, kclip, inflator, and true iron. They’re still decent plugs. I just think the THD and TMT are a bit of false advertising and the dynamics are a bit dysfunctional.
