We will be doing our 10% off sale Black Friday morning thru the end of Cyber Monday. We will be somewhat limited on stock so I know it won't last long. We will have some of everything except BT50s. Grayhill is still not playing well with others.... www.capi-gear.comI have one 16ch to ship today and then I need to check presorted stock quantities. We are very low on the presorted parts. It takes us weeks to sort so we definitely won't have any additional stock being added.

Izotope Vinyl just got updated to a modern version, it's free right now if you visit the right page. It's on the Izotope page you just have to log in and they will give a serial number. Just demo'd it. It's pretty cool, there's a plugin for everything now it seems like. I've got vinyl and cassette covered now which is kind of outrageous and mildly useful.

Gulfoss is on sale. That's one plugin that I think piques my interest. Not an emulation of classic outboard, but a new approach. When it comes to plugins, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Anyone used it extensively? The reviews look promising.
The Softube Weiss mastering EQ and comp are on sale too, but the discount is not very deep. Plus, not sure I want to go that "deep" when I EQ. I like just twisting a knob or two and getting there. That's why the Gulfoss really intrigues me.....

For those who missed the Sony / Sonnox Inflator -over the decades -
A must-have even for hardcore hardware fans, on sale for 28 pounds. My hardware on the mix bus is replaced by Version 3 and it sounds sweet, just a bit of inflation opens up the image.

You might also want to check out Voxengo TEOTE, which does something similar, but has a different tone to Gullfoss. I own Gullfoss, and it's great, but TEOTE might be better on bottom heavy material.

But honestly.. it’s not all that great imo - Save your money for something else.

Gulfoss: use with care. When it works, it works, but you can easily regret the choice you have made in the realm of “brightness”.
The reason I ended up purchasing it was as follows:
I was printing a final mix of a big record (for me) but everything stopped working. I could not figure out what was wrong with my mix session! On top of that, my 33609J/D hardware mixbus compressor was acting up. When I finally figured out that it was the Gulfoss plugin with an expired demo, I was very frustrated. I ended up purchasing it in order to finish my mix but I haven’t used it much since. I really would have appreciated a “demo expired” pop up message vs. one hour of trying to figure out why audio wasn’t passing any longer.
Overall: Use gently.

Dynamics: You'll want them all. 25A and 4 are awesome levelers. 864 and 515 are cool as hell. 373 is a nice nuke and bus processor. I don't own the Federal 864 yet.
Tone: You'll want all of these. 2C gets slightly better to gritty tube awesomeness. 562 is amazing to anything scooped. 376 adds Class A push to anything. 68 is instant "hifi lofi" goodness. I want that Grampian 562 and the Tascam strip.
Guitar stuff: All awesome. Don't own it yet because haven't needed to use it on mixes yet. Might buy the pedal pack. That drum separator looks awesome too.

Been waiting to demo the PA SSL 9000J until it was close to Black Friday time. What everyone says about the dynamics section is true, it's really good. If they bump it way down to $50 I'll buy it. My guess is, since it's their flagship strip and it hasn't been on sale yet, it'll be more like $100 and I'll pass. It's good though.

I keep wanting to rave about Gulfoss, mostly because I spent the money on it. But honestly.. it’s not all that great imo - Save your money for something else. OK. Thanks for the tip!! I think you should try it for yourself. I really like GUlfoss, I end up using it for something on most mixes. It doesn't work for everything, but I have had great success using it on badly recorded pianos, to make them sound much clearer. I've used also on some distorted guitars, to brighten them up and notch out problem frequencies at the same time. I find the great thing about Gulfoss, but also its biggest flaw is that the controls are very limited, so if you really want to dig in on a specific problem, it's not as useful as Soothe or other Multibands, but it also makes it great for making quick decisions. Hey this keyboard's a bit dull and boomy, put Gulfoss on and in 10 seconds it sounds way better, or not and then look for something else.

Gulfoss always cleans the mids, in my opinion. And makes things brighter, which you can tell it not to do it - something that I do often.
But yeah, to clean the mids, especially the lows, I think it's a useful tool.

Thanks for this one the LA4 is dope on LVocals... no problem. It’s based off a prototype made with modern components so it sounds less “off” than the real thing unless you start clipping it, when you get aliasing. Thankfully there are no modeled RC-4136.
