I tested the off axis response as soon as I got my pair of KM84. It’s easy. As posted above: place ithe mic for recording acoustic guitar, and then sing while you play. That vocal sounds unlike any other mic. It’s just a softer, more distant and dark version of the real thing. No resonances, no nastiness, no peaks, no valleys. Really, you don’t even need to listen for it, it’s very evident.

If I need a plugin EQ in the 2-buss to round off the mix or make it close to a reference I always go for the Hammer. Even if I have a hardware EQ on the 2-buss too! On my last mix I had the Retro 2A3 from the start but needed a little tweak in the mids once the mix was done. Hammer time!

Well, phantom power was invented for the KM84, so you could say that any SDC is a “clone”! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

What is the updated delivery time line? A few have begun shipping this week, more next. I hope you can deliver one soon to Funky Junk in London. I’m visiting to test some mics on March 4th!

Ok! I was ready to spring for a recreation of Abbey Road’s legendary tube compressor. They advised to buy the Weight Tank!

That was a great recommendation drbill - thank you! The store I bought it said they liked it better than some legendary stuff that I won’t name! It stays on electric bass at mixing time. Usually the bass is tracked through an 1176 so this rounds it off nicely. On double bass it’s like cheating! I’ve used it on vocals and acoustic guitars as well. There’s no way to make it sound bad.

New posts are additive, the last deposited at the bottom of the page and so in actuality he needs to talk up to you. I'm sure he's talking about a certain hardware manufacturer that shall remain unnamed. Back on topic: every time I use my Weigth Tank compressor, I laugh. It should be mandatory equipment in any hybrid studio!

Shame it doesn’t have a one year waiting time, wildly varying specs from build to build, an ever changing price, and impossible communication with the builder - it would be a hit!!!

Since two Bricastis are out of the question (financially and I/O-wise) I ended up doing this: I sent everything that needed room space to the Bricasti, set to Studio B Close. Used a few specialty reverbs here and there (snare, guitar), all with Liquidsonics 7th heaven. Once my vocal automation was done, I put in 7th H as a stand-in for the Bricasti, chose the vocal reverb I liked best (happened to be Cristal Plate), and printed it. Undid the last few steps and voila! Hardware Bricasti on the most important tracks. Took all of ten minutes. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

The Audioscape guy did post at some forum about it. He said that there was way too much circuitry involved in building this and he would never attempt it.

If Acoustic I happens to be the 84, they sent you a defective one when you tried it. Both mics would work, but Acoustic I has a fluttery quality that reminds me of my Joly modded Oktavas.
Or maybe I got a bad Warbler! It was bested by every SDC I had, including the cheap Avantone. After I sold it, the buyer put it up for sale as well...

I’m even starting to think that the delays are also another way of getting publicity. All the Stam threads are constantly being bumped by people waiting for orders. We even have a sticky on this forum!

I don't assign reverb to tracks - I almost always assign reverb to a buss. Then whatever needs it gets sent to that buss. Same thing with echo/delay. I must have done a terrible job of writing my post, since it's at least the second time I get this comment... I don't think I've ever put a reverb ON a track in my whole life ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Even if I was mixing a song with only one track, I would put any reverb and echo on aux tracks. Hey, I'm 43! My first recordings were on a Tascam Porta ONE. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Thanks for the replies! I edited my original post a bit to clarify the intended usage. As you all seem to do, I'm sending mostly everything to the Bricasti so it acts as the studio room sound. I guess I need to do some real tests against the IRs and decide whether it's best to send everything to the hardware, print the hardware for some key tracks, or use IRs on lesser tracks. I'm taking notes of everyone's favorite presets by the way! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I never put it on "an instrument". I put it on a aux return and feed that from whatever tracks I feel will benefit from the awesomeness of the M7. Standard M/O for working on a mixing console environment. So do I! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I recently got a Bricasti M7 after using Liquidsonic's Seventh Heaven Pro for a few months. Yes, my favorite reverb plugin is surpassed by the hardware, as both Liquidsonic and Bricasti will attest :-) Those of you with hardware units - how do you decide which tracks get the hardware M7 vs other plugins or (lesser) units? Do you use a plugin for the other tracks that would also benefit from the Bricasti? Do you print reverbs to free up the hardware? I'm sending all my tracks to Studio B Close as a standard modus operandi. It's amazing how much it can improve the sonics of my room. For my current mix (the first one with the hardware) I'm dedicating it to this function. However, it would also make sense to use the hardware for the vocal reverb, since it's the most important track! In both cases it's not easy to print the reverb. Hmm... once all the automations of the vocal are done, I guess I could use the hardware on it, print it, and then put it back in the "room" spot. Sunset Chamber is a firm favorite here by the way! What do you use? Any fav presets? EDIT for clarity: no, I'm not putting reverb inserts on tracks - it's always on an aux send. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Alright, I figured out how to make this fit in my studio without heavy rearranging of the racks/patchbay. Its outputs could go into the front inputs of my RME Fireface 802. The combi mic/line inputs have an extra 6dB of gain but it's really clean so I don't think it will detract from the sound, compared to plugging them into the straight line inputs. And I can buy an extra 4U rack for it.
I'm saving up for it already!!! Any idea when it will be available? My next big recording session is in about one month...

I’m going to need to rethink my whole studio for this!!! I’m out of rack space and out of I/O!!!

I picked up Seventh Heaven in December and it very quickly became my favorite reverb. I might even sell my Altiverb at this point. Be careful! As good as the plugin is (favorite software reverb) the hardware is even better!

Just cough up for an M7 and never think about a plugin again. Except for Liquidsonics Seventh Heaven as a stand-in for the M7! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The most important instrument will always get the real M7 in any case...
