TG Mic Setting A #4 setting into Stam 1073 EQ with a tiny bit of 10 and 3.2 kHz taken out...into Stam 1176 ADG D Attack 5 Release 7...Exponential Audio R4 81 Plate. Might have been better with no EQ, but I can get piercing...so, in a mix, I'd probably use a little dynamic EQ on the bottom. But damn...I can record with this. drive.google.com/open?id=1KRZCtehejwVmO30jFh8RmgaRtGkqEJOX

My favorite "testing a microphone" vocal clip of you (so far). Terrific! Chris

Sometimes I wonder why we all post dry files. I guess you can hear all the warts. But it most likely doesn’t represent the final product.

I worked on one where they recut all the vox because the scribble strip still said SM7. Bass player was like “we’re not going for that broadcast sound.” Thing is, I’m pretty sure they just didn’t grock the vocal sound sans verb. Should have printed mine. Oh, and I used an AEA on the keepers...pesky out of date notes.

FWIW John, if I could consistently record a "dry file" THAT well, I'd be one (very) happy camper! IMHO a "dry file" does point to its potential, in a mix. Chris

I record mics I’m testing with no EQ, but I always put a little reverb on. I’ve heard beautiful U47’s sound little better than a cheap mic when it’s flat or with spoken words. But put a little reverb on and you get it. Somehow that gives you a much better idea of the mic in the real world.
I’ve gotten pushback from some people in comments about that, but you know, they can always go test them for themselves if they want.
What I noticed about the TG mic is the intelligibility, even with quite a bit of reverb, and a very full low end, I can tell the detail of the vocal will still come through even when all the tracks are there.
Not many mics can do that.
