Gee, I hear there is a really good 67 clone being made by Stam, they’ve been working out some production sna fus and delays but are releasing soon a somewhat reworked version: been thinking about ordering one.

I can tell you, it either surpasses the previous one or I won't make them anymore
Since there will be a significant upgrade on the most crucial component I expected it to match our favorite vintage U67
Everybody who has one reserved will get the SA67 MK2 Everybody who has fully paid and is waiting can get the MK1 or move their order to the MK2, I get the bodies in June for the MK2

And it seems like Heiserman will take care of anyone who currently has one and is unhappy with the capsule’s performance:
“I just want everyone with a Stam mic that has a Heiserman capsule to know that we stand by our capsules and if you have any issues, please contact us directly and we’ll take care of you.”

All’s well that ends well and tuning a capsule, like rolling tubes, comes down to tailoring the mike more to your preferences, not because a mike is actually faulty: somewhat like changing string type on guitars, guitar is fine but the voice still changes.

The SA67 arrived here yesterday (a day before the DHL estimate). I’ve just now had the chance to plug it in, let it warm up, and see what it sounds like.
It’s not very often that a peice of equipment has led me to realize a whole new and wonderful sound palate than what was previously available. This mic does that. Have only tried on vocals and acoustic so far but really couldn’t be happier. For my tastes it needs a gentle dip around 800 and a slight presence boost and it just sounds like a record.
I’m going to see if Josh will let me pick up a second one of these - as this configuration is now going to be super rare.

Bodies on the MKII in June though? I ordered mine in 2017, and I’m tempted but geez... I’ve been anticipating an imminent invoice since January, and the idea of punting for another couple months makes me, well, sigh, to say the least.

Most definitely will do!
It’ll be around 3 weeks or so, but it will happen.
I’m honestly excited. I’ve been trying to reach the zone the Soyuz 0-17, the Chandler REDD, the Max Mod U67 and the reissue U67 occupy, and I have a feeling the Mk II SA67 is gonna do it.

Some will sound really good. If the size is nice and big and the air is there, leave well enough alone and be happy.
