My buddy just downloaded it and is really impressed by it. I kindly reminded him that he could just give me a call. I’m not a giant fan of the tenor they sampled, but the soprano’s voice is lovely. I waiting to hear a good demo of it before I judge it. I imagine this will be nice for scoring or to add a layer to a choir patch, but seriously if anyone here needs an operatic tenor for a project..... my wife is a rediculous lyric mezzo and I know some fantastic sopranos, baritones, and basses who sing at the met and on broadway if your budget allows. I also know a guy who’s pretty proficient at recording these kind of voices and has multiple microphone and preamp options. https%3A//soundcloud.com/vincent-ricciardi/ev-studio-vocal-demo
Then again I know what I charge for projects, so I understand why this VI exists. Wish they had included a Mezzo, Contralto, Baritone, and Bass though.

A few months ago I did a project for the friend who actually just downloaded this virtual instrument. He created a choir using East West choirs. Then he had one real voice on each part. I was the tenor. It sounded ridiculously real in the context of the mix, which was in a score under a movie. You could in theory use this virtual instrument as the lead vocal. I’d be very curious to hear what that sounds like.

From what I’ve seen, neither soprano or tenor has a sampled High C. That in my opinion is a big mistake on East West’s part. They really should have sampled them to at least that, if not a few notes higher. I always have a usable Db in my pocket and have sung Eb’s in performances where they were called for. My wife is a mezzo and has a crazy high C she uses in every concert we do. So a lyric soprano should easily have a D or Eb.

Finally. While I’m not impressed with some of the samples they provided I’m pretty sure this patch could really sound good once you learn to program it. I do have some issues with it though. 1) as stated above, why are their no high Cs when that is the typical top to the lyric soprano and lyric tenor voices which are sampled in this library? 2) hopefully an expansion pack will include bass and mezzo. Operatic bass is an incredibly unique and useful sound in this kind of composition. Mezzo has a warmth that is also very useful. 3) why is there no way to map lyrics into the sample? Many choir patches allow you to program lyrics for a very convincing sound. This seems to have been left out of this sample and I think it’s a mistake on East West’s part. Instead you get a library of phrases from popular arias in various keys. I’m sure that can be an interesting and creative tool for some, but the ability to program lyrics would have made this sample pack very powerful. Still, if anyone here needs some operatic vocals.....
