Is the extra colour in the bg2 a big difference or subtle? I’m also interested in comparisons to the rétro revolver if anybody has tried both. Unfortunately it’s not possible for me to demo highland dynamics stuff where I live That is a difficult question because the BG2 has different settings, and can be quite colorful, yet the BG1 is not sterile and somehow has a euphonic quality on busses. (I have only tried the BG1 on busses. The BG2 is stuck on vocal recording.) I have not tried the BG1 on a vocal, where I know the BG2 shines, but it would be fine and perhaps excellent if one just wanted some taming of a vocal without much of an imprint. And then there is the Gyraf G22 which is my latest acquisition, which just seems to do it all, but is still yet different from the BG1 and BG2! Sorry, I am struggling on this one. It seems that due to COVID, manufacturing has slowed down, and one can try a lot of these great comps, and still recover well economically, if it is not an ideal keeper. (And of course, try to buy with a return policy.) Good luck!!!!

I apologize in advance for this....hide your wallets Wow, what a great demo!! What that does to the low mids with the side chain filter out is just magical for the right voice and application. Do you find It's a little bit V-Comp like, in a sorta kinda mighta way?

I'd been halfway looking at one of these for awhile but hadn't heard it on enough individual instruments. This is the example video I needed... thx
Amazing sounding compressor!

A couple of things for me that separate RS124 style comps from some of my other favorite vari mu(176, Sta Level, Magic Death Eye) are (1)It has a little high end lift that just tends to make everything sound better and (2) It can be very transparent when needed. I think you'd be hard pressed to get a Sta Level/V Comp to sound as transparent as you can the BG1 in B/600 ohms mode.

I decided to do a follow up video showing the BG1 in saturation mode(compression off). It's pretty much like having a stereo RS124 and a Culture Vulture 🔥

seawell checked out a few Patrick Rock songs after the demo and the With a Full Heart mixes sound killer. Worth It In The End hits like a stone fist. Love your demos and please keep the good stuff coming.

Thanks seawell for doing this. Opened up my eyes to getting more voodoo from my BG1, lots of really interesting interaction with all of the options + two independent channels . I have only had my BG1 for a few months, and only used it as a stunning tube compressor I get my drive from other HW like Culture Vulture Super 15 & Overstayer Modular, but it is great to have it in the BG1 tube compression circuits - more to discover The BG1 is amazing - so flexible and a total creative tracking and mixing goldmine to continually discover so many outcomes

I was surprised how far it can be pushed into saturation. The compression is so good it took me a while to even try it with compression off.
