www.m1distribution.com/highland_dynamics.htmlI've been lusting after a BG2 but as I learned when I got the Atomic Squeezebox I always end up wanting 2 channels of compression I like. Some differences to the BG1 but looks awesome.

Why is the mono the bg2 and the stereo the bg1? I thought the same thing when I was looking at one the other day. The bg1 is also newer.

I thought that was funny too. My guess is the BG1 was designed first but the BG2 went to the public first?

Why is the mono the bg2 and the stereo the bg1? Good drugs? Seriously though, I have kind of lusted after this, but then I remember all the tone options of the Chandler EMI.

I’ve used the BG2, it’s pretty great. I wonder what I did with those recall notes? I remember preferring feedback or maybe feed forward on snare.

The BG2 at Hyde Street C is an early one, it’s labeled differently than the current production model, now that I look at pics.

the 2 in the name is to signify that it is capable of two tones, if I remember correctly. RCABA6A and RS124. Im hoping to get the stereo model later this year.

I've been talking with Bryce (really cool guy by the way) and am going to demo the BG1 as well as a pair of BG2's this coming week or next. I'm hoping the BG1 scratches all itches as I'd love to have stereo and save a bit of coin.

At first I thought it was going to be a Broadhurst Gardens clone.

Definitely keep us posted. I’ve used and loved the BG2 in the past. I’m getting close to being ready to buy, but can’t decide between the BG2 and BG1. Obviously more time constants and stereo is a big plus, but if the BG2 beats it on vocals I may still end up with a BG2.

Any new mid term experiences with these two? I am demoing both right now and am having a hard time to decide what to go with. They are both great in their own way. Right now I feel like I would miss the one I don't buy... Hard times.

Those of you who tried both, what were the differences you heard between them? I know they have different output stages and the BG1 has more options for attack/ release. I’m interested in one of these. The BG1 appeals for being stereo but a lot of people seem to really love the bg2

I had a BG2, got a BG1 at a great price. BG1 is bit clearer, which I actually prefer. But, others probably really enjoy the color from the BG2.
I think it sounds best when you can use a slower release time. I really like it on things like fiddle and dobro. Can also work really well on vocals. Never tried it on a mix

Lately I’ve been into the Kush AR-1 on the mix buss and that’s got me curious about checking out some stereo vari-mu compressors. I wonder how the BG-1 compares to a Manley Vari-Mu or Retro Revolver.

Why is it a pair of underwear, but only one bra? Why is the mono the bg2 and the stereo the bg1?

Is the extra colour in the bg2 a big difference or subtle? I’m also interested in comparisons to the rétro revolver if anybody has tried both. Unfortunately it’s not possible for me to demo highland dynamics stuff where I live
