Didn't think it was much of an issue... I have three monitors (48, 48, 27) running off the stock video card (Thunderbolt) in my Westmere, the past 4 years.

Think Tbolt interfaces my man, I bet a late gen Chease grater and an Apollo eats the latest I7 IMAC for lunch. Bring on the new Mac Pro, nobody seams to be pushing trash cans so something is coming, but I still don’t think Tim “ Apple” Cook understands or cares about the pro user. All the local web, art and software houses use IMacs and are happy campers and buy in in numbers. Bring it on last Gen Cheese graters and PCIE chassis’s will just get cheaper !

ericn . . . still don't understand why they haven't kicked Cook to the curb and promoted Jonathan Ives to leadership

If I were Johnny Ives, I'd be worried about running out of cool ideas. Lot of pressure to write more hits.

ericn . . . still don't understand why they haven't kicked Cook to the curb and brought Jonathan Ives back to leadership Because for the most part Apple is a cash cow under Cook. I was talking to an anylist friend and he was saying Apples problem right now is every investor see’s it as a hardware company and judges to much on those figures. It’s now a media company that makes some hardware, think 1970’s RCA. If Cook is smart enough to wrap the new streaming service into Apple Music it will be even bigger. The thing is he has to use the muscle of ITunes / Apple Music to break the exclusivity of the other Video Streamers, Somebody has to explain to Disney that $1 million from Netflix to simply stream Incredibles 2 is more than $10 million after you build your own infrastructure, advertise, get a smaller market share because the user can only afford so many TV services. Oh your competeting with Sony’s new service? Well fu Sony won’t include your App on their TV’s ! It’s what Jobs sold all these guys on and the real reason Dre and Ivine sold Beats for Billions; we can make you money if we have everything, you can compete but your going to have to invest in Giant IT and play nice with your Competition.

Ward, Youre using DISPLAYport for all the monitors, not Thunderbolt. Same connector (as TB2 and I assume 1)....not the same protocol. Much like USBC and Tb3 share a connector and speak different languages, so to speak.
The thing i find even more intresting about this, is that the card they use isnt suppoed to WORK on Windows unless your mtherboard has a TB header, whch the Mac quite obviously doesnt.

That's not a solution, it's a hack, at best.
I've done the same with my very old eMagic interfaces. Launch the firmware loader in Snow Leopard, warm boot to El Capitan and keep the interface powered. It works, but it's hardly practical. I even imagined replacing the firmware ram with a programmed eprom, but decided it wasn't worth the effort.
Besides, imagine calling UAD support with a config like that...
