ingramengineering.net/products.phpI wanted to let everyone know about this kick ass but quiet company, too. Ingram and RTZ Audio have worked together for years on different projects and I met him from doing business with RTZ. The Ingram MPA-685 stereo preamp is now here at Slack Key and we have been using it a lot lately. I have made all acoustic instrument files that are on his website if anybody wants a listen. This pre is very different than most of the preamps I have and is one of the most versatile. If anyone wants a demo, I am more than cool with letting you try it out for a few days. There are also other engineers who have posted other various instruments like drums/perc/el gtrs on the Ingram site for those interested in those aspects. I will be one of the first to beta test their MPA 575 single 500 series channels strips soon. Anyone that wants to can come by here and we can test them out together for multiple view points when they ship them to me soon. I am really looking forward to trying it! It sounds like the end of march will be the time frame. R

Randy, thanks for the kind words. Bob, of RTZ, and I have enjoyed crafting our own products and assisting with each other’s projects, and are really happy to hear when other folks get good use of and appreciate our gear. Bob was instrumental in helping get the MPA575 off the ground. The MPA575 production run is making good progress, so I hope to be speaking about the first production shipments in the very near future.

Hey just wanted to throw a shout out here on an older thread, when I was at Randy's we were cutting some comparison clips and Randge used the RTZ pre and man I tell you guys when I got back to my place I was missing that thing. If you can demo or go listen to one make sure you do, I don't see much about them but they are amazing.

I also wanted to jump on board and give my compliments to RTZ. I recently got their 9762 Dual-Combo stereo mic pre (www.rtzaudio.com/9762.html) and LOVE IT!!! It's got a ton of head room, really clean & quiet, plus the tone is killer. I'm using it on my lesson videos (www.LessonsWithTroy.com) now for Dobro & Weissenborn. Here's a sample of my latest video where I used it on Weissenborn. I'm also using a stereo pair of Mojave MA-100's modded by Shannon Rhoads at www.micrehab.com. I am sure Bob (RTZ)can arrange a demo if anyone wants to hear them and my studio is open to anyone coming to town to have a listen as well. I will say that you should have a ready wallet before you hear them because you will be buying one or a pair! They are my favorites out of the rather diverse selection of preamps here at Slack Key.

I am sure that Eric (Ingram Engineering) can send you a demo of his stuff as well. Both are the best of gear related products.

In a world of 500 series mic pre's it's easy to find one's that sound good. Harder to find one that knocks your socks off and is very affordable. The RTZ does both. I was BLOWN AWAY at Randy's studio when I heard these mic pre's and bought two on the spot. It's the Swiss Army Knife of mic pre's. I've used them for 2 months now and haven't found anything they don't sound wonderful on. Pull the trigger and you'll never look back!
I will be buying more of these. I plan on selling my Great River, OSA's and Vintech's......anyone in the market?

Many thanks guys for the kind words and inspiration. Eric and I put in lots of time on both units. I would have never got the RTZ designs nailed down without Eric's help. The MPA575 was a real challenge for both of us also, but with enough persistence we were able to make both units happen fairly quickly working together. I've got an MPA575 and have been playing around with it on guitar and it works very well. It's got a lot of features packed into a 500 module that most other units just won't have. The EQ, variable filters and compressor are nice to have all in one unit. It was a real challenge to pack everything in the enclosure space and PCB layouts, but it turned out really nice in the end. The MPA is a more of a refined sound with a touch of color. The gain structure is nice and mic levels adjust very smoothly. The 9762A is basically a 1073 that been modified and tweaked to use different transformers. The 9762 is very effective in getting that big in your face Neve type sound. Either unit will lay down some serious tracks in the right hands though. Check out Randy and Troy's recordings, amazing work and super high quality sounding tracks!
