Mhhh.
Phone ringed I was walking out the room but I did not recognized that my left leg, the one with the handicap, was connected to the mic cable. Now the basket is damaged, but I can't evaluate if it touches the M7 capsule.
Hints?

Do you have a mic tech close by that could open it up and just check it? I had a drummer bump into a mic stand and one of my U87s fell to the floor. Basket had a couple bumps on it but the mic worked fine for years after...so you may be ok

Just open it up and see. I would think gently pushing the basket back out from the inside is better than leaving it ?

You're in Germany, right? Send it to the Gefell factory for a refurb.

That was my first thinking too and you are right no risk... they are just 230 Miles away from Berlin.

It's harder to get stuff to the factory from over here in the US, but from everything I've heard, the factory is THE place to get your Gefell mics refurbed if you have the opportunity. I'd go for it if it was me. GOOD LUCK! Those mics are gems.

Yup, the factory where they can give it a thourough going over and see if it is within the spwcs that it left the factory in as I believe they document the frequency of every mic that leaves the building and can call it up and compare.

+1 on sending it back to Gefell. I sent one of my M-295s back (I am in the US) when it was having issues. Turned out it needed a new diaphragm. The work was of course performed flawlessly, and the pricing was actually less than I would have expected. Great people with whom to deal as well.

I think I would have punched myself in the face if that happened to me.

Mhhh. Phone ringed I was walking out the room but I did not recognized that my left leg, the one with the handicap, was connected to the mic cable. Now the basket is damaged, but I can't evaluate if it touches the M7 capsule. Hints? If it still sounds right then you can use it if you don't care about aesthetic appearance. The main body grounded, so if it touches the capsule's backplate (or capsule holder) then there will be a short (i.e. no sound). If it touches the diaphragm then it won't sound right (if sound at all). Depending on how badly the basket is damaged and how far it moved from the capsule the sound might somewhat change due to change of acoustical environment. Just use your judgement. Best, M
