I just checked out the "punk" demo of their free Orange amp sim. Not a very good sound IMO. I don't even want it for fee. haha

I've always been happy with Front End Audio. Their sales seem to be 10 to 15% off right now plus some other items even cheaper. Just picked up a Klark Teknik KT-2A from them for $340 new. Wonder what I could quote people? The Decleration Of Independence?😁

Wonder what I could quote people? I would be interested in a quote on either the KT-76 or KT-2a. I've been eyeing those low prices a bunch of the European stores have been offering on those two units lately.

I think the KT-76 is something like $230 after shipping from places like Gear4music.

OK - If Front End is willing to break even, I'd say go with them on the KT's.

Regardless, thanks for the quote. Yeah, I hadn't forgot that you were a dealer John. But when I saw the Front End price drop on the KT-2A I just had to grab it. Plus I've bought a lot of stuff from them in the past.

I think the KT-76 is something like $230 after shipping from places like Gear4music. I'm hoping that these good sounding classic gear clones help drive down the cost of plugins a bit too. Yes, we all need to make a living including plugin designers. But paying hundreds of dollars for software while musicians end up with little to no profit on recordings strikes me as weird. On the other hand, I just paid $100 for the Transatlantic Plate and it's worth every penny. I guess I'd make a lousy debater.

Lots of people on the other site are putting NOS tubes in and that's an improvement. To me it would be hard to justify the expense. I'd like to find just the right tubes to sound better without blowing the bank. One great thing about a full sized Pultec vs a little DIYRE kind of thing is you get way more frequencies, into the midrange, so it's more generally useful. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is the plastic pot shafts. Hopefully those will hold up over time.

I mean to be fair they are two different styles of pultec Tempted to get some of this just for utlility stuff.

To be honest with you I'm not sure if I'll try the DIYRE since it seems a bit limited to me. Sure, maybe it's great for mix bus or something specific. For utility like you said I like to have frequency options galore.

I have a KT76 and think the sound is pretty much identical to the Warm units that I own, but the build quality of the KT feels better.
