Related to my Distrokid thread.
I loaded my album on Distrokid yesterday but now I am worried it is somewhat of a front for Spotify. Although, I was interested in promoting sales, if someone can stream from Spotify, why would they bother buying? On the other hand, if you don't have a digital profile, how do people buy anyway?
Bootcamp let's you buy but retains 30%, plus there are Paypal fees, that seems excessive too ?
On principle, as a songwriter, I am not a fan of streaming services due to how they take advantage of songwriters, abysmal reimbursement etc.., but theoretically the profile is good or a mirage ?
Now, I feel like pulling the album out of Distrokid.
Thoughts ?

At distrokid you can specify that it not go to streaming sites, just to sales sites, but I will have to delete and reload.

Just give a few songs away for streaming... so people get to know your work, and the rest is up them. Or you just go the risk and you do the world wide streming thing on all streaming sites.
IMO if you do a digital relase you need to be online at the same time everwhere you can. You need some Online PR too ... nice webiste great profile at instagram... etc.
Beeing a self promoted musician on the internet is hard you need a perfect marketing plan and it will cost you tons of discipline.
