I've got to throw some love out there for this mic...... I was looking for a ribbon to use beside my 57 when I mic cabs, I put some inquires out to a few of my buddies that are session players, I got a little impatient and almost went the route of a 121. The night I was about to throw down 1500 I got a text back telling me to take 130 bux and buy the bare bones Fathead. I was skeptical, but at that price I thought I might as well, and it would just be a back up. Nope..... It's not a 121, but it damn sure gets you that sound. It took me a little bit to find the right pre and settings but man I was blown away that a mic that costs 130 was in the ballpark of a 121.
I've been at this a while and I recently just discovered them, so I thought I would throw this up in case some of you were in the market for a ribbon. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one of the transformers Jeff @ Capi has for ribbons and see how it sounds. There are some options when you go to buy it that they give you, but Warren over at Zenpro gave me good advice and I just went with the stock one. I'll be interested to see what one of those transformers will sound like in it.
If any of you has upgraded to these transformers, how do you like it? Anyways, just throwing it out there, hopefully someone might find this useful.

I'm interested in the CAPI tranny also. I've got 2 Fatheads w/Lundhal's and a/b'ed em with a friends stock Fatheads. He immediately ordered 2 Lundahl's. Wouldn't mind getting a CAPI tranny and put it in a Apex 205 or something to try it out.

I know it's better..... but I didn't have that kinda cash and the Fathead for how much it cost is a pretty damn good alternative. I love 121's..... but I don't have that kinda cash right now so I was pleasantly surprised with how the Fathead sounded.
