Can't even tell the difference, However, it will cost us $4500 for upgraded software over a 30 year period of updated versions.

Can't even tell the difference, However, it will cost us $4500 for upgraded software over a 30 year period of updated versions. In that case I got a bargain for around $2,200 USD. I find sibilance splash along with the tale fade is what catches out most of the plugins I've heard. But more than anything else when using the real thing, and even without any predelay, the source doesn't get buried under the verb even with a very wet mix. It still manages to sit on top of the verb rather than get swamped by it. Even our 480L has been getting neglected since the EMT was installed.

To convert it to a tube EMT? Lol No reverbs for me. I am toying with the idea of switching up some of my Schoeps capsules. But, I should probably just be patient... Patience is so boring though ..

rowmat sorry I meant like a new one. I’m sure those EMTs will be valued for a long time to come. I can’t imagine the market for them is very large.

rowmat sorry I meant like a new one. I’m sure those EMTs will be valued for a long time to come. I can’t imagine the market for them is very large. Hehe! Yeah a few have produced new plate reverbs since the original EMT-140 patent expired but apart from one or two who I believe are still doing it (Pluto and I think a Swiss company) I'm guessing the market is probably too limited to be viable except on a made to order basis. I was on the verge of building a DIY plate and was actually getting quotes for materials when the EMT we have now became available. Yep they're big and heavy and locating them somewhere quiet can be problematic but after using ours for the past six months I couldn't live without it.

Does anyone actually want a plate verb? They’re huge. My friend Ed makes a newly designed Digitally Controlled Passive Plate reverb called the Pluto Plate Reverb. In the last 6 years, he has sold 12 of them.
