The Apple fashionista's who consider their products be like catwalk models ie. "the thinner the better" ensure the collision of fashion and function. I used to own a Dell XPS 13" laptop. It was thin, fast with a dedicated Nvidia GPU and would get so hot the solder around the GPU and motherboard would basically melt resulting in a GPU failure. Two failed motherboards later and Dell's solution was a BIOS update that caused a BSOD and shutdown once the temperature exceeded what was deemed safe. Dell blamed Nvidia for issues with their GPU's and Nvidia blamed Dell for making the laptop too thin to allow for adequate cooling. Regardless I ended up with a door stop when the thing finally cooked motherboard number three and Dell would no longer come to the party. Please no more of this tech anorexia!

Regardless I ended up with a door stop when the thing finally cooked motherboard number three and Dell would no longer come to the party. Please no more of this tech anorexia! It was a huge issue with the older G3 Macs, only Apple never admitted it and charged thousands upon thousands of people for motherboard replacements that should have been done under warranty. I'm sure the person at the top was just like "what are they going to do, go PC?" And let it happen for years. Talks of class action eventually died down when some folks got new laptops out of the deal in exchange for silence. I was not lucky. I had two motherboards in a few years go bad with the beach ball of death and eventually just blurry lines on the screen. 250$ a pop.. that is until the third time I learned that I could resolder the video chip myself. It's not like they honored a warranty.. both times I was told it was due to blocked heatsinks, and that it was my fault and not covered under warranty. Both times I knew the heatsinks weren't blocked. That's when I swore off Apple forever. Never again.
