I've been tracking and editing/overdubbing on a musical soundtrack this year that is quite heavy. The musical has been performed at the Kennedy center in nearby D.C.
It is about a 17 year old boy who committed suicide in January of 2016. It's about hope and it never being too late to reach out. However, there are definitely heartbreaking lines in there. Today, I tracked overdubs by the boys mother who performed in the musical. I'm in awe of her ability to be involved and even get the words out. I have the highest level of respect for her. I have heard these tunes a lot as I've worked on this from the beginning, and it really sinks in. I have to say, it certainly has had an impact on me. It's incredibly heavy, to me.
What sort of projects have you worked on like this?

It's not quite the same but I have half a dozen almost finished songs recorded from my last band, from right before my friend/band mate committed suicide. I can't stand to even listen to them so as of now (2 years later) they are still unmixed. I keep telling myself I'll finish them one day, but we'll see.

I'm in same boat as Tbone81, but 11 years on. Haven't been in a band since, hardly touched an instrument.

Terrible thing. I am sorry to hear that. When I lost my best friend at 20 who was my music partner, it was a while before I picked up a guitar again. I can understand to an extent.

The artist temperament has it's pitfalls. I've been a depression sufferer since I was 12. Finally got my dx when I was 17. At that time it was severe clinical. It's still there along with panic/anxiety disorder and some OCD, but they tend to wax and wane.

A project like you're working on hopefully brings some positive perspective. These things become therapy.

All great singers. Some downright silly good. Meeting Will's mom and seeing her work on this project is inspiring as well. I have really been able to work with some amazing folks for sure, and I am grateful.
