It's obviously a tongue-in-cheek spoof

Yeah, it's bad but it's just poking some fun at the stereotypes of the 70's. I don't see what the fuss is about.

I don’t either. It’s a send-up. What’s the issue?

It feeds that whole ignorant Gearslutz thing to the younger kids. It's exactly the wrong message to be sending. Buy this because its' a cool costume, "the seventies sound". Terrible thing to teach the young kids, it's bad enough out there already. At least Dave Grohl's "Sound City" movie tried to impart a down to earth historical perspective on engineering, and analog Neve consoles from the heyday of the record industry. Kids sould be taught to buy the right tool for the job, and to understand that gear doesn't make the man.
For the age of some people on this board it might seem innocuous but I think it makes plug-ins look like the silly flavor of the week panacea that they often are. Universal Audio feels like AmericanMusical Supply to me, in the tone of their marketing, and the general underwhelming mediocrity of most of their products. I've owned a lot of their stuff and it's not bad but it's not great either. Their compressors are not good, and their preamps are okay. Their Apollo interfaces saved their business and if you go to their website now it looks like a plug-in company. Not a fan. They had pretty great history back in the day.
