The SA-800 is super smooth. I can’t directly compare to the sony or any other Stam mic, but it’s not really about that for me. Direct comparisons of any mic are pointless in my humble opinion. It’s all so subjective, and way too many variables to be considered. I bought the mic based on the pedigree of its design and the expert craftsmanship from Joshua and his team. Before I am accused of being a fanboy or hijacking a thread, just wanna say I have a lot of different outboard in my racks and I have no affiliation or bias towards any gear. I like what I like and buy what works for me. Mad respect for them all.

Recent FB post from Stam indicating they only continue building 1 3 version 76 comp in future asking people to vote on preference and faceplate preference. That's a positive step. Next, they need to state and guarantee that they will make 10 every month, and only sell 10 every month . . . and have people do spot-buying like AS does, and they'll restore confidence. I like the idea of an ADF but with the faceplate like the ADG.

Haha, they were supposed to be done many times over. The only thing we can be certain of with Stam is that their delivery estimates mean absolutely nothing. I'm thinking about canceling my order. A lot can change in two and half years. I'm married now and looking to start a family. Spending money on another compressor isn't a high priority in my life anymore. I've been really happy with the combo of Klark Teknik KT76 for tracking and UAD 1176 plugins for mixing.

If it wasn't for that, it'd be the perfect box.

But got the last invoice for U47. However, for 1890 dollars instead of 1490 dollars when I ordered it. But after a few email conversations, it worked out!

I think a couple of items were much more laborious and time consuming then expected , these and the Fairchilds and let’s not forgot Chile had a very long lockdown.

It takes the time it takes. I understand the frustration but we have known about the delivery problem for a long time, and , people can bail anytime they want. I stopped a few orders but to each their own.

That's true, but no excuse, unfortunately. As a businessman, you have to stand by your word. Have built up my business like that and have sometimes lost profits on certain business. But I have always stood by my word. That equation is simple in my world. I have been fully aware of the delivery time. But that the prices should increase from the order date, just because the supplier has not planned it correctly and does not get the units ready is not the customer's fault. But we solved it and Joshua was accommodating and polite 🙌

Does anybody here have a SA76-ADG or ADF? I've got an ADG as well. So, what you think about it? Reliable? Any problems? And what about the sound? Have you compared with another hardware? And plugins?

If you filter for my posts in this thread you’ll see my impressions from when I first got it. And our discussion of the attack issue (with images and some numbers). Like I said above, if it weren’t for the attack issue, it would be a perfect box, because the tone is lovely. I still use it for that reason, but going through the tracks in PT and manually fixing the big transient peaks it can’t catch (and exaggerates) is a pain in the ass.

FWIW, I had the same issue with the Warm and KT.
