Please share your experiences with the Convert ADC/DAC, or Convert 8?

There is a PT X review. In terms of comparing to burl which would seem to be what you are doing, the DM, lets you use the transformers or not, use the maximized scale (top 10 db?) and seems to have more features.
I had the B2 and really liked it but thought it was a bit like double chocolate, didn't need that richness all the time.
If I was buying now. I think I would lean to the DM, for its extra features/versatility, both are likely excellent units though, so it comes down to the feature and cost differences and what you value.

I think what you may really be referring to is what I'll call "purchase anxiety", as in - what if I buy the thing, but don't like it? I suffer from it badly, particularly because it's my habit to keep anything I buy. Forever. Which means I have a stack of unused/unracked gear, including Burl B2s (yes, plural), Neve 542s, A-Designs EM-PEQs, etc, etc.
My suggestion is what I've been telling myself to do for some time now: tell your vendor of choice that you may return the piece, and stick to it. Try it, then buy it only if it fits your needs. Most places like Vintage King and Sweetwater here in The States have a 30-day return policy. Looking back on some of my purchases, I wish I had returned a few things. Not because the product sucked, but because it didn't make a big enough difference to warrant the investment.
Good luck going Dangerous, I own a Monitor ST and it is a great piece of gear. Personally, I don't see how you could go wrong with anything by them.

Thanks guys...it’s time to update my rig and it’s nerve racking. "nerve racking", that's funny! If you're interested in the Dangerous stuff, you might also consider the Crane Song Solaris (DA) and Crane Song HEDD (DA and AD). I haven't tried them, but the people on Gearslutz and various other sites who have tried both seem to prefer the Crane Song stuff. Plus I think Crane Song is cheaper.

For that amount of money I would be looking at JCF converters instead. I think you get a lot more for your dollar in that price range with JCF and they are a bit more "musical"...

You already have both the units I'd kill for man...... Your answer lies within.... If you love what you've got, you'll love all their stuff.
Personally, I'd go at them like they started out, a mastering company. If I had extra cash I'd be buying like the AD+, Summing mixer and then the system that allows you to route things around and process mid/side, more than likely their buss comp too. I'm absolutely positively certain all of their converters sound awesome, but even for what I do, I don't see myself dropping that kind of money on 8 channels of it, but, that's me. I'd look for the hidden gems when it comes to conversion and channel count. The ESS Sabre truly is a chip of magic that has something about it that I can't get away from, and I'm talking about the older ESS technology, I believe they've got the next generation out there now and I imagine Motu is gearing up for the launch of the 16a part 2. That's what I'd wait on, I'd chill for a little while longer, whatever the next big show is I bet they roll out the new Sabre chip interface's/converters.
That DAC that Jim posted about, it's specs are insane, 100 femto for the jitter??? 32bit/768khz ability??? True Dual Mono??? That's crazy and it has the new ESS I believe. That box cost's $400. Incredible.
I'm holding out because I think in the next 6 months we are going to see another major step up in conversion technology and it only seems to be getting more affordable, so long as you don't mind gambling on brands similar to Motu. I was going to get that RME ADI-2 DAC but I'm saving $500 and getting the DAC Jim posted about. I'll take that risk because when I read the specs, similar to when I bought my 16a, when there wasn't any reviews and what not, I just looked at the specs, knew it contained the same technology as the Apogee Symphony's and rolled the dice. Plus, when you buy a 16 analog i/o interface for $1,300 compared to like $4,000 for the Apogee's, you've got options to mod and that's really where you can beat the tar out of anyone.
I like Dangerous for the mastering end of things. The compressor they have, the boxes I listed above..... When I get into the 2 buss part of my rig or my monitoring, that's where I will spend the money granted I've made money after I pay my bills and added to my retirement account.
