Wondering if anyone has experience with these mics on grand piano.
Indie folk singer songwriter.
Or
Would you record grand piano with dynamic mics. Granted, very good sounding dynamic mics.

yeah that's the ones. dynamic with double capsules. I use mine on kick and electric guitar. tried them as room mics recently but needed more gain so switched to condensers.
they are fairly flat and have excellent off axis response which is why I thought maybe piano could be ok with them.

These are a Dynamic that can work on piano BUT it is a slightly different sound, they compress a bit and don’t seam as fast!

Will probably use a pair of ksm137 in xy then ease myself into into the akg on piano by setting them up out from the sound board.

The main thing about 202s and 224s (I've owned both) is that you need to always be back far enough that one diaphragm isn't favored. That means two or three feet.
