Hi, everyone.
I'm about to pickup a new MBP for recording/composition.
I think I'll need:
- Hard Drive for Sample Libraries - Hard Drive for recording - Hub
Portability is key. Since I'll need to plugin an iLok for Pro Tools/plugins, USB midi, and an audio interface, I'll need the hub.
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thank you, Tommy

Don't forget the dongle for your dongle. #nothingButUSBC

I'm about to pickup a new MBP for recording/composition. Out of curiosity which MBP are you getting & with how much RAM & internal HD ... i5, i7?

Don't forget the dongle for your dongle. #nothingButUSBC Yeah, that's one of the reasons for the Hub.

I'm thinking the 15' 2.8 GHz i7 with 512 internal SSD HD.

I have the 2017 2.9 GHz i7 with the 512 internal SSD and 16Gb of Ram and it is awesome with the exception of having to also buy the USB adapters to hook everything to. I record out to a 3TB 7500rpm external drive and have never had any issues with Pro Tools or Studio One. I can use this interchangeably with my i7 quad Mac mini.

Not very portable, but an excellent idea. (I should've specified portability in my original post.) This would be great for studio use and backups. Thank you!

I know it's a bit "slutty" but I love my Glyph Studio 4TB. It's just my favorite hard drive I've ever owned. Other than M.2 and SSD internals I guess.

OWC/MacSales dot com usually the best selection for Mac Book Pro. Good luck with it.

I'd go bigger for the internal drive 512 isn't very big Granted, but if you have a lot of external wouldn't that make up for it (& more)? As opposed to the RAM which now is not upgradable?

I use the Aukey hub (metal triangular one) with no issues. It looks good and does the job.

Depends ,I use logic which prefers to load everything on your boot drive? I think owc upgrades your memory, I did that and installed 2 internal ssd.
