What does everybody have and what does everybody want these days in lighting?
LED, Ambient, drop, pockets, considering all options and like to get some opinions and feedback from my peers please!
In the latter stages of a major build and the time has come!

I picked up a set of Chauvet SlimPar64's for uplighting in my live room and am really happy with them. I've got them set up on a light board in the control room so I can change the colors and stuff.

Drop down LED lighting. Easy to focus and put the light where you want/need it. Dimmable without traditional noise problems. Cheap to run (but expensive to buy). Like everything about them excerpt I should have gone a bit further to have lots of technical light when wiring or working on gear.

I installed a dozen GU10 style recessed lights in my studio, then changed them all over from halogen to IKEA 400 lumen LEDs, which are about 50W equivalents. Since they're supposed to be around 2700K color, I use 1/16th CTB cinema gels cut to fit the housing to raise the color up to around 3000K for a more "white" look. I also have a drop light over the coffee table behind the mixing area, seen here in this older picture: As for my lighting scene, I like smaller pools of light more spread out, with some lights used for highlighting certain things like amps and doors: Or highlighting the sound panels or really anything that might add a little texture:
