I am about to sell off my entire studio, which i will itemize/list here when the time comes. I have all of the original boxes that the rack gear was encased in, but not the outer brown shipping boxes. So, I need to buy boxes, shrink wrap, peanuts etc.
Does anybody know of an inexpensive supplier?
Also, is there a 19" rack unit outer cardboard box size that is standard industry use?
Also, if anybody has "best practices" advice for shipping so that the item is not damaged en route I'd appreciate it. I've never had a problem with the few items I've sold, but I want to make sure everything goes well.
Thanks to anyone who replies with advice!

Best bet is to see if there is a local Box dealer or Uline distributor. No standard size because for the most part there is no industry standard for there boxes! If you find a local box supplier buy 3M package Tape & peanuts I pay $3 a roll for the good stuff worth every penny $20 for a 6 foot by 3ft bag of peanuts! Hell if you were in KC I would tell you to come grab some peanuts!
As for shipping they all suck, you would cry if you saw them throwing your boxes BUT USPS has been the best at insurance claims and the least expensive through their online shopping! Always get a receipt at p/u or drop off they are not responsible if you can't prove it was in their hands & system!!

I just want to say that I hate, despise, and loathe peanuts. I vastly prefer bubblepack.
Peanuts make a mess when unpacking and you don't have the fun of popping the bubbles afterwards.

FWIW, peanuts are not recognized as proper packing materials when you file an insurance claim. I would check the policies with whoever you will be shipping with.

Never had a problem with USPS and both ! Technically we should all be using molded spray foam and virgin boxes ( cardboard is only rated for one shipment)!

I once got a package where somebody wrapped glassware in bubble wrap somebody had popped all the bubbles, it was a comercial CC transaction so I knew insurance wouldn't cover it, but one call to AMEX ! Best advice I can give when buying anything AMEX is the biggest SOB when your a seller but even the prepaid is a buyers best friend! In fact if ever I'm worried about a transaction I pull out the AMEX! Also it appears EBAY is using its own 3rd part insurance when Shipping USPS VIA EBAY & PayPal shipping not USPS normal insurance Beware!!!

Yep, everything is OK. I'm turning 61 and heading off to travel the world. I'm gonna have a small songwriting setup, but my days recording bands are over.
