I downloaded the demo...The Virtual instrument loading ability is pretty insane...but I just don't see pulling the trigger on it with all the third party manufacturers lagging behind with AAX upgrades. I guess it's coming, but I can't mix without UAD, Slate, etc...
Upgraded my elderly Mac Pro with a smoking Mac Mini 2.3 i7, 16GB RAM, SSD and a USB 3 external drive...and PT 10 is really working like clockwork for me.

I have PT11 installed next to PT10 on my Mac mini and it is not getting used until UA and Fxpansion (BFD2) release AAX-compatible software. But when everyone catches up, it will be a good thing, I think. I expect PT on 64 bit to rock. Matt

I'm in the same camp. I'm still on PT9, which I've always found buggy, but I won't jump to 11 until UAD goes AAX.

Same as Matt here, i have been running PT11.01 for a while here and it is a beast, only hick-up on my end is my Native-Instruments plug-ins aren't ready...

It's just such a PITA to start a project with one version and have to change to another...If PT's had better bundled SW, I would consider just biting the bullet.

I mix mainly with outboard. But there's no melodyne AAX (the times we live in) and things like WAVES which everyone sends me rough mixes with them in their sessions and I need to be able to open them. Also, I need to be able to still use 10 at leisure for mobility sake.
PT11 is smooth, finally the metering is a brilliant feature. Runs much lighter and faster (much impressed). But not upgrading yet. The rest of the industry needs a headstart on it.

Glad to hear the positive reviews of 11. I have it downloaded and activated but not installing until my plugs will work. I am assuming it could be 6 months or so before I even get into it.

So we cant use Slate Digital or Waves plugs in PT11 yet? What about omnisphere and Native Instruments Complete?

I got an email back from NI saying that Komplete 8 (i assume 9 also) will get an AAX-64bit update for all of its plug-in except for battery 3 but they didn't say when... Also they cannot say anything about future releases.

None are ready...which is shocking to me... It seems to me that Avid most likely kept the PT code-base mostly in-house as it reached gold status (maybe suddenly they produced a stable revision), and then, boom, they released it. I can't think of any other reason why 3rd party SW devs would be so far behind. Maybe it's a prime example of competition trumping cooperation. It's too bad. I am holding off on any plugin purchases until things are sorted. I bet I'm not alone.

UAD is the main thing that's holding me back. I have the WUP for waves and am waiting for that too, but I hate waves with a passion and could care less at this point. UAD... couldn't get my sound without some of their stuff. Since im using a lot of outboard gear I could probably get by if I printed a lot, but I really dont think I want to do that. NI stuff I tend to do a lot but I have it installed on my B-rig (imac with a digi002 hooked up to a bunch of midi controllers) which is running 9 still. Until UA gets their stuff together, im stuck on 10, and might even stay that way for a while... if it aint broke... don't fix it... or was it break it... hmm lol

ii replaces your current 10 or earlier with 10.6.3 and 11, they both run on your compter. 10.6.3 is a bridge to 11 and sessions are interchangable. i need ua and slate to go aax too, but tonight I bounced 9 wav files at 12x speed: 9 4 minute files in 5 minutes and uploaded to drobox.
so everyone's call when the upgrade but you can use 11 even without all its bells And whistles !
