soyuzmicrophones.com/su-023.htmlThey call it The Bomblet, also handmade in Russia and offered for $999. I expect Sir M.J. Butler to magically procure one and take it out for a spin for all our benefit.

I'm wondering how this is different than their SU-019 FET Mic other than price.

I can't help it if it's really good ;-)
Spindrift, it's a different capsule and design. The 0-19 uses a Soyuz made and designed capsule that is similar to a K67 capsule, making the 0-19 in the U67/87 family of tone, though it sounds better than a U87 to me.
The 0-23 has some design elements of a classic Russian mic called a Lomo, redesigned and improved. David Arthur Brown from Soyuz mentioned he'd like me to try the 0-23, so perhaps I'll see about that. I just finished with the Chandler REDD mic, which was mind-blowing.

I'll find out, give me a little time.
* just heard from Soyuz, they said, "The only real similarity of that mic to a LOMO is the capsule which is the same design as the 19A9 with a triple back plate system. The schematic is our original design".
I'll see about trying one asap.

So with the Bomblet out there for $999, Im very tempted. However I wonder if its doing much more than what I can already cover. Here is a rundown on some of my mics:
Telefunken TF-39 - Pair Vanguard V4 - Pair 3U Warbler MK V - Pair Serrano 87 EV RE16 EV 635 - Pair Samar AL95 - Pair EV RE320 EV RE11 AKG C535 - Pair Oktava MD-80M 3U CM-1 Teal - Pair Aiwa DM68 (Kinda D19ish)
Other rando dynamics... Thoughts?

From the various demos I've heard (I've not used the 023 myself), I think it would sound quite different from any of the mics you've listed. That's not my attempt to get you to spend money, Jacob, I promise. I do have the 019 (or 017FET) and a pair of the 013s (or 011FET), and they're wonderful mics.

I have owned the soyuz 017 fet and the bomblet. I found that they sounded similar. If you like the 017 you will like the bomblet. I ended up selling the 017 and kept the Bomblet.

The risk here is pretty simple, the Ref C goes in and out of fashion constantly. It’s the cool mic than it isn’t, people suddenly forget that it is a hand picked Chinese capsule then it’s forgotten. Is it a great investment to simply flip? Hell no! You’re in Nashville, if the seller can’t move it there, where are you going to move it?
The sensible move is to lower your asking price on the Soyuz to actual market price, yeah it sucks, but it is what it is.

Have an 023 and I dig it on guitars for sure.
Incredible build quality and finish on the Soyuz products and the signed, personalized "who worked on it?" cards are really cool.
