I second that motion. You might have sub categories in that sub-forum, like mic techniques, compressors, plug ins, phasing, pre amps, mastering, etc.

John, is it possible to have a "Studio Techniques" type of subforum That was my thought when reading too. Just stickies of good posts found elsewhere. +1 on the sub-forum idea. But anyone should be able to post to it. What fun is read-only?

Yeah - I'm gonna keep most information here on one board for the near future. I think making it more confusing and spreading info out isn't necessary yet. But I wish I could find a way to highlight posts...kind of a "super thumbs up" - or a "suggested reading" button would be cool...

I have detected that a few people have mentioned the desire for sub-fora dedicated to studio techniques. Since recording and mixing can be considered closely linked but distinct processes, how about creating two categories named something like:
Recording Techniques Mixing Techniques
What thinks the collective?

I think that's a great idea...for the future. I don't want to split up info yet. I think splitting up kind of divides our core group up right now and the death of a board is the lack of posts/traffic. But - I could be wrong...

I don't really see how it could break things up.. But that might be my bias since I have interests that span the whole gamut of this forum though and I'm pretty much reading threads in all sections of the forum.
However, I do think that folks who are interested in mixing tips and tricks are also interested in gear as well. It's not a big deal as the forum is still small enough that scrolling a couple pages of threads shows you all of the topics, but as time goes on, things will be cluttered and need more finite cataloging, for the sake of organization.

I would love to see a section of the most informative posts. I don't think you need to have comments posted on them though, that should be done on the original thread, don't you think? Otherwise, you'll get two threads covering the same topic, and people will be stuck shuttling between them.

Studio Techniques or something like that would be cool. Recording Tips and Tricks could be cool.

Can you go to the gear and click "Select Post" then go to the floating bar that says "actions" - do you have a delete there?

A section focused on technique would be great, not so crazy about separating recording techniques from mixing techniques. I find it useful to think of it as one process. In any case, it would be a great addition in my opinion.
