So, after a year and a half with my Peluso p67, I have decided to sell or trade it and do some u67 type builds myself. I'm going to use Dany(poctops) PCB kit, and either an AMI BV12 or FAB BV12 style transformer. That leaves the capsule for the other critical component(in my eyes).
I have heard good things about Eric Heiserman's capsules in NC but haven't heard any clips exactly of the k67. BeezNeez makes a K67 style capsule that sounded very close to the Neumann k67 in comparison clips I heard, so that's sort of at the top of my list.
However, I have only heard great stuff about ADK mics and I see that you can buy their 67 style capsule.
Anyone do any builds with these capsules? Thanks for opinions.
And I know it won't be a u67, but I think I can get a little closer than the p67 and for a lot less money.

I can probably make you some clips of the Heiserman capsule... Eric and I compared it with someone's vintage 67's, and it was very favorable. The owner of the mics liked it enough to have Eric reskin one of them.

No kiddin? That's neat.
Where do you feel it differs? Most k67 copies sound a little more open in the top and less intense/forward in the mid range.
If you do feel like making any clips, I would certainly appreciate it, but don't feel you have to.

BeezNeez K67 is pretty close to original and would be my choice for quality.

I know a busy commercial studio guy with a large selection of Neumann, built a bunch of different u87 clones using various capsules including one Neumann. After using them awhile he ditched all the non-Neumann capsules and loaded them all with Neumann. Having the rare ability to compare all the options, he found he didn't use any of the others given the choice. FWIW.

As much as New K67/87/870's are inconsistent compared to their older brethren, they are still the best if your chasing that sound. Add in the fact that you don't save much if your looking at the quality reproductions.

I'm on the same boat. If the original one is still being manufactured, I save for it, and don't bother with copies. That applies to k47/k49, and k67/k870.
