Yeah, they version bumped again. Same as when they bumped from 3 to 4, you retain all your V4 plugs and get the V5 versions of them added. So old projects still open with the dinosaur intact, or you can start using the fossil free version. Base pre-order price is $99, includes four new V5 only plugs including a 'not-a-Vari-Mu'. The stand-alone shell is revamped into a little mastering editor that can export DDP etc. I'll be kicking in, these bumps signal the end of support of the previous version and two of the new plugs look interesting, but the plug-in window being re-sizable now is really the hook for me. Wouldn't mind this just for the 2A limiter that's not in the SS plugs, I've heard that they are a little hit and miss like Waves.. Although with the likes of Stealth they make some of the best brickwall limiters and Ozone is on my to buy list.. Which thinking about it I could have the entire T-racks setup for less than Ozone 7 standard..
What do people think? Worth it?

The $199 intro price for V5 Max is a deal for sure, 38 plug-ins including the newer Stealth Limiter, EQ 432 & Saturator X. The SSL Bus Comp, G & J channel strips are nice, though the strips' dynamic sections are gain staged so you have to hammer the input to get serious compression. The Neve 73, 81, & 33609 are solid, though I've had latency issues with that comp in parallel. The API 550A/B & 560 are good too, I like that preamp' saturation on vocals. The 1176 & LA-2A were their first 'competitive' plug-ins with the big boys and they hold up pretty well, it would be nice if they updated them to open at unity gain though. It's a lot for 200 bones, even if I have some niggles with some of the plug-ins' behaviour it's not related to sound quality. Looking forward to hearing the Vari-Mu!
