First My setup: Trident (Oram) Series T Board Apollo 16 Focal CMS 65 and Equator D5 monitors
How do you guys with consoles monitor...through board or dedicated monitoring DA device off interface?
I was thinking about incorporating the Benchmark DAC1 but is it necessary?

I imagine that when recording you would plug into the console pres, take the console direct outs to your Apollo and use the auxes on the console for latency free headphone mixes. When mixing you could take the line outs from the Apollo to the line ins on the console to mix through the console. Is that what you're asking?

Thanks for taking the time to answer but that is not what Im asking. In a professional setting do pros listen and make mixing/Tracking decisions through the monitor section of the console or would they go back into the digital realm (in my case a Burl B2) and listen through the the DA?

In the big studios that I've worked at with Pro Tools HD rigs and SSL's, mixing and tracking decisions were always through the monitor section of the console.
