I've had mine for a week now, and done 4 mixes. Where I before had to redo mixes 2 or 3 times, depending on the density, I now can do them with 1 touch up. I love'em. The midrange and low end control is excellent. But what astounded me the most, was how big the sweet spot is on these speakers. Whereas I before had to sit dead center to hear correctly, I can now move over to my outboard rack and instantly hear the changes as they're being done.
Anyone else who's got them?

those joints are $3500+ PER speaker!!! consider yourself lucky to be in that group that can afford them for your studio!

Well, since the studio isn't my day job(yet...), I am in a position, where everything I earn there, can go straight back into upgrading it.
I bought them used off a project studio, and got a really good deal. They are less than a year old, and very well cared for.
But yes, I do consider myself lucky to be able to do this.

The Twins are really great with a sub - I bet the SM9's are even better!

I agree about the twins John. However for some reason I prefer the solo's with a sub. I finally sold my Dyn's 15a's and put a pair of SM9's in the studio. They have became my favorite goto speaker for right now.
BTW I have a few pairs in stock. One new and one demo's I could do a smoking deal on. (Giving John a commission of course:)
Have a great weekend RD

I've got solo 6's here, no sub. I'd love to hear some SM9's at some point in my life, but that would be the single most expensive piece of gear in my studio

Don't take this as raining on your parade. I'm just given my 2 cents. I wanted to love the sm9's but they didn't do it for me. Nice speakers. But they are colored in a way I didn't love. They seem more fun then accurate. Which definitely has a place. I didn't think I would be able to do my best work on them. In that price range of speakers I think I would go with the ATC's. Maybe after I get my conversion sorted out I will look into some full range speakers.

No worries, mate. Granted, I haven't tested ATCs, but out of the ones I tried in this price bracket, I really like these ones for accuracy. It was either these or Proacs, but I didn't want to go passive.

Haven't heard them, but I've heard the PMC two.two's are supposed to be the shit...
I was at Vintage King a while back and IIRC, they had SM9's and Barefoot's set up...I switched between the two and surprisingly liked the SM9's better. Of course, it was just a quick thing...

John the two.two.eights are really great. Those things a shocking. I liked them more then most 3 ways I heard by far. But they aren't cheap either.
I think when the time comes I will look there or ATC or some old school passive with killer amp.
