I decided it was time to finish off some partially complete projects. This includes fitting reflectors to the tube bass traps I built a while back. The reflectors are simply builder's plastic damp course (visible on bench next to roll of gaffer tape) and will cover half the circumference of the tubes providing some diffuse mid-high reflections versus the very dead side of the dacron/rockwool half of the tube minus the reflector.

I have 60 DIY cloth covered tube traps without the plastic side. I was thinking of removing the material and adding a heavy clear plastic to half of the cylinder and recovering them with the material. A lot of work even without doing all of them. Is the Builders plastic damp course just a heavy duty embossed black plastic? I can't see the other side. Are you going to leave them that way or cover them with material?

I bought it in a roll for about $20 USD. It's about 14" (35cm) wide and 100ft (30 metres) long. The tube is also covered in a 1" layer of dacron over the wire (you can see it on the floor behind the trap) and then finished off with some acoustically transparent black cloth. I'm going to punch some 1" holes in the plastic on around 4" centers to allow some airflow through the plastic. I'll end up with eight of these larger traps and sixteen smaller traps on adjustable stands.

Tube on the right with reflector fitted prior to covering. Reflector covers half the circumference to provide a live side versus the dead side (minus reflector) 2" (50mm) holes cut in the reflector are to aid air flow in and out of the tube.

Here's a pic showing a covered tubetrap on the right. There will be some timber end caps to finish it off. I'm planning on eight of the larger traps. The smaller tubetrap on the left will be one of sixteen fitted with adjustable stands.
