Anyone have any links to examples? Sorry, I couldn't remember which Symphony thread we were discussing this in so I thought I'd just make a new one. I'd love to see what the difference was. Please post any videos or links you've found.
The mkI's are a freaking steal right now.

Hey - one of you mkii guys - so the 2x6 is basically the exact same as having a mkI? Or is it a new clock, but same adda?

I think that’s what it is - new clock, but cards have different adda.

Also, I thought the MK I only works with the older software, and that you'd have to use older versions of your DAW, or something like that. I saw one somewhere for $1,000, and that's very tempting since I could get more than that for my Apollo, and keep my satellite.

You just don’t get the slicker new app for monitoring.

Symphony MK1 works fine with OS X 10.12, any current DAW, and the previous/last version of Maestro 2. Firmware updates require your source Mac to be on OS X 10.10 or earlier. This will be a pain in the future if Apogee publishes a desirable firmware update for MK1 and keeps the OS X limitation for the update process. As of today, I would need to build a partition with Mavericks just to perform a firmware update. Lame. So without new firmware MK1 owners are stuck on OS X 10.12 and will probably always be stuck on Maestro 2 for the control software. It's not a problem now, but two years from now, who knows. Apple will continue to update OS X regardless, and eventually compatibility can/will become an issue unless Apogee steps up and continues to support MK1 on versions of OS X as they are released. Started a new thread…then realized I should have searched! Anyway - what do people think about these two? There are smoking deals on the mki silvers…and with the Trinnov, I’m just really not sure I need to have $4500 (Burl) invested in 2 channels of conversion. Any thoughts?

You'll want to check to see if a Mark I will work with your Mac. I'm due for a new computer and it is my understanding that my MKI won't work with the current Macs.

I think at the time I wanted to get back in to Apollo world but I couldn’t keep both. I’d still venture to say the Apogee mkII would be better than the Apollo x6 (which I’d keep for the front end and then use the Apogee like a standalone box.) But yeah…probably not worth the hassle.

I wasn’t making fun. At the time we discussed the upgrade mki to mkii being better DA, conversion etc..
We don’t need to restart Converter wars, but unless you want Luna, I don’t see the point of Apollo.
The uadx plugs make on board apollo and satellites. Arguably irrelevant, unless you track with ua plugs, but i’d argue use hardware on the way in anyway.
And after having Apollo X , Symphony mkii and Aurora N , the Aurora N stayed here.
I’d be prepared to make a mkii is better value argument ad it sounds great and unlike the Aurora doesn’t have the built in (not optional) sd card .
In your case, i’d also suggest the apogee 2x6 se mastering 2 channel card, as its supposed to be even better sound then the mkii stock?
Anyway, just spitballing, have fun !

I recall and thought they must sound great !
When I had my 16, i kept my eyes out for the 2x6se module used but never saw one.

So what happened with the mkI loud fan issue? Is that still an issue if you install two cards?

I’ve had 24 I/o in my mkI for years and have never heard the fan. I think that may have been a problem with some of the earlier units.
