Nope. The black areas are fire retardant burlap that covers packed fiberglass. Ceiling is almost completely dead. Amazing Studio Space 😀🤓 Are those hair ball rev a or real deal blue stripes? Awesome studio can't wait to come and visit and hear all the cool gear and svartbox! I am trying to buy a new car now so my transportation is lacking however soon I will be mobile again... One's my rehousing of a D revision board, the other is an A revision hairball.

Long way to go I see. But once you get rid of those pesky diffusers and swap out that desk for a modern MacBook almostpro and slate super subscription you'll be ready to go.

Let's see your place! drive.google.com/file/d/0Bym1m85ha75RYWxyTnVRZGdEMkU/view?usp=sharingNote: I can't embed it here, but when you click the link, it should play fine in your browser. Also, here's a panoramic shot I took. Kind of grainy, but gives you an idea of the space. Very Cool... thats what I was hoping for... was like being walked around by you...8) very cool space!

^the diffusion probably costs as much as the desk. I wish there was an affordable product out there.

My very small, very humble space: There's a ton of absorption in the front corners (2' by 4' floor to ceiling fluffy pink insulation), and the entire back wall is another foot of fluffy pink insulation. It actually sounds pretty darn good in here. I have a fairly narrow 12dB notch at 150Hz at the listening position, but other than that the low end is fairly well controlled. I had control of the width and length of the room when I built it, but no control really of the ceiling height. The ceiling is only 7.5", with an even lower section in the front of the room. Even with that low ceiling, it still sounds pretty good in here. About as good as one can do with such small dimensions. Monitors are JBL LSR28p. Sound fantastic, and I have no reason to look at anything else as long as parts are available for these guys. Had to replace a tweeter last year, and an amp a couple years before that. Otherwise, these guys have been going strong and working well for many years. They like to go loud (good fun factor), but don't overwhelm my room. Good combo. I'm a console guy, but it just wouldn't be feasible to put a large format desk in this tiny room. So, I'm mostly in-the-box. The guitar is a Canton Custom guitar made by Rick Canton. Pretty sweet. My humble rack (work very much in progress): The patchbay is wired up to allow for a lot of expansion. I have a Radar unit in another room, so I have cabling running between the rack and the Radar. The patchbay also incorporates everything from the 500 rack (and yes, I run phantom power through the rack - works fine and I've yet to ruin any gear by forgetting to turn off phantom power before patching) and is also set up for a yet-to-be-built summing unit and to accommodate further additions to the 500 and 19" racks. Gotta build a couple of Jeff's 550-style eqs next. I need another compressor or two in there as well, and will build at least one rev D from Hairball. Gotta grab another H3000 to replace the one I foolishly sold a couple years ago. I miss having that around. Not seen in this shot is a DIY DI and reamp unit loaded near the bottom of the 19" rack. Very clean, neutral DI with a ton of headroom. 2 channels. I also designed and built a simple, but great sounding, mixer for the few synths I have. It's fun to design and build stuff. Wish I had more time and/or funds available. Here's another shot of the room facing the back wall: The amp on the left is a DIY JTM50-style, switchable to a more JMP50-style. Sounds pretty great. The GK amp is something from the 70's that I refurbished. I played GK amps quite a bit back in the day, so I keep this around for a bit of nostalgia. Solid state, but sounds pretty good. Under the GK is a good ol' JC120. Gotta love it. On the right is a run of the mill AC15. I need an amp upgrade/addition, and will be grabbing a Mesa/Boogie Mark V/25 soon. Very versatile and does "me" really, really well. Anyway, here's a shot of my Radar session controller just for kicks: Love the Radar converters, although the interface I'm using is ancient and no longer supported. Gonna have to either spend about $1300 on an RME ADAT card and PCI expansion chassis to be able to keep using the Radar, or spend twice that to get in to newer convertors. Right now, I can't even upgrade my OS because it will break my interface. Something will have to give eventually. Anyway, that's my humble space. Works fine for my purposes. Feels good to spend time in here, and that's the main thing. I could use a couple additional mics just to be able to cover more bases. I love the sound of ribbons on guitars, so I think I'll DIY a ribbon mic next. I'm also sure I'll keep adding analog outboard pieces. I'm an old tape and console dude, so the more actual electrons that are flowing the better as far as I'm concerned.

I've mixed stuff in there...it's weird...you can't feel the punch of the bottom end. Kind've disconcerting. Why is their no low end punch in that room? The diffusion reaches so low in frequency that bass is scattered and there is no focus of the low end. Low end is somewhat omnidirectional anyway and this just exacerbates it.

Awesome space Wiz! I wish I lived someplace with sunshine and blue skies. LOL .... my first thought exactly! He has actual sunlight! .... and blue sky! Sometimes the 6 months of continuous grey sky's in London get me down over winter - it can get tough! The OP has a lovely studio space - and sunlight too (oh I already mentioned that :-)
