Well I missed the boat on a limited edition run of those USA Fiesta Red Tele's w/ maple neck's through Reverb/Chicago Music Exchange....I wanted to treat myself for my birthday & didn't want to miss the boat again so you could imagine my excitement when I saw one pop up on the used Guitar Center website.... They've only been out since July 2016 so someone must've been unhappy- perhaps it's the jumbo frets but I digress...
So being no slouch, I proactively call the store carrying it to
A) Confirm that the guitar is indeed in stock at that location
B) That this guitar was EXACTLY the one in the picture as described.
After being on hold for a bit the associate has said guitar in hand and says" Yeah this is the CME tele I've been telling everyone about it all week, it's awesome"
Great so I place the order online, saving a couple hundred bucks off the original 999 new price, and all is well! I'm stoked.SHE's MINE!!!
3 days later no shipping, no contact-nothing........so I call the hotline... "oh it was supposed to ship yesterday''.....they call the store..... and apparently the operations director was/is supposed to call me regarding a hiccup with my order.... THEY CAN'T FIND IT IN THE STORE. So no thanks to the help/customer service hotline where they "couldn't do anything because they don't work in the actual store" and not wanting to wait around for some schmuck to call... I call the store to find out whats up... I'm bounced around to 3 different associates....one of which the operations manager who's supposed to call me and she bounces me back to some twerp who explains how he " hasn't seen the guitar in a couple day's someone probably stole it,or the person who I talked to didn't actually know which guitar I was talking about as there was another fiesta red stratocaster they have in stock... so they're going to call all the employee's to see who I talked to" What!?
Now this is rich, again I haven't been apologized to ONCE at this point,
though it could very well be possible it was "stolen" I find this highly unlikely as many of you know GC is like costco, hard to just walk out with a popping color tele with no receipt...I find this simply unacceptable and figure it was either
1) never there in stock
2) an associate sold it for a commission even though it was already ordered online
3) an employee is trying to shuck this baby for himself
I finally ask for the acting manager's boss but he's out on a "family emergency" so I have to wait another day without answers as they continue to look for my guitar.
Finally I call back the next day( they should be calling me no?) now 4 days after my order, and talk with the manger and explain how *&#^$ ridiculous this whole enchilada is.... he wasn't even filled in on the situation by his team, which is another unacceptable bag of worms when it comes to retail.... and he finally apologizes and explains how no one can find the guitar so they're going to have to reimburse me/ cancel the order. WTF!!! In the manger's defense, he did offer to heavily discount a new/used guitar of my choosing if I find anything in their inventory or website but that ain't happening... these guy's don't come around often, let alone at 799.
Now my lady works in retail, and having served many a brews as bartender in the customer service industry, I HATE IT when people are a**holes to those folks working in the industry....people treat you like serfs...even if you're being exemplary so I really try not to blow my lid on these guys but this time I couldn't hold it back...especially when I proactively was trying to avert any potential crises by reaching out in the very 1st place
Long story short I'm out a Tele, and now have all my funds tied up in paypal for additional week because of this.
NEVER AGAIN.
P.s. Any of you guitar hoarders willing to hook a brother up? All I want is an american fiesta red tele & a maple neck DAYUM
